Minoru Suzuki vs Ken Shamrock. They could have a great technical wrestlingmatch. But in Pancrase the entire video of their match doesn't even last longer then 7 minutes. www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJllsCN6LKI

This is my main complaint against "shootfighting" too, the length of the fights.
They often end in the first round, or dont go very long if they get past that, and 90% of it seems to be two guys rolling around trying to "get inside each others guard" (And people call wrestling gay.....)
I always tell one of my friends these reasons for why I prefer wrestling to shootfighting. "WRESTLING IS STUPID AND FAKE, UFC IS REAL FIGHTING!"
What do I care about real fighting for? I already won like 30 real fights in school, and they were more exciting than most UFC stuff I've seen.

I can watch UFC occassionally, but that's why I'm not ready to believe that UFC is fixed, even though a lot of people are starting to say so. If it was fixed, wouldn't it be more entertaining?

I like both. Some of the fights in UFC are boring, but most aren't to me. I enjoy good grappling matches as well as slugfests. I do hate lay-n-pray techniques, it's pathetic.

Some of you guys don´t like the art of mat fighting and that´s okay. There is space for everbody in this world. Psy: I think the hole Gracie clan kinda disagree with you there. PS: I loved the match. I am still figuring out how the hell Suzuki escaped the second armlock, Shamrock lock in it perfectly. Maybe he couldn´t but his weight onto Suzuki?

How the mighty have fallen...and you guys think Kurt Angle can compete with these guys? IF anything, if he loses he makes TNA look awful.

Joeman: Yeah I know, I kept telling people that if Angle doesn´t train BJJ he is a goner. He couldn´t even reverse the Kimura that Pudin used on him.(He did an awful Kimura in a bad position. Yes it hurts, but it was easy to break, he left so much openings.)

Personally, I like a lot of the really old UFC stuff that had WAY less rules for what could happen during a match. It made stuff a lot less predictable and people used to be vicious. That being said, I do hate the waiting game in some of the fights, when two men are pretty much locked to each other for 10 minutes trying to get in weak looking punches until one guy f***s up enough to get a submission in. I used to love Tank Abbot and his whole rough n' tumble style... He usually led to entertaining fights.

I find it's hard to enjoy grappling until you have experience with it. Before I started training in BJJ I thought it was boring and only wanted to learn it for submissions. But once you get into it, it's fascinating. Passing the guard, gaining side control, it's all about position before submission. It's hard to get an appreciation for it until you have to do it. And I resent the gay remark. It's only gay if you make eye contact.

It lost its appeal for me when it became so mainstream.

There's that whole : "Not falling into the trap" thing. UFC = HUGE hard-ons for brazilian jiu/vale tudo. No disrespect to Gracie Jiu-Jutsu, but Christ, you'd think it was the best thing since sliced bread.

What, do you mean the fans? They are what I like to call "MMA Marks" they think that´s the only thing in the world that is valid and this sucks.

Okay a couple of things. Shootfighting is far different from MMA.
here's the basic rules.
-Palm strikes to the head, and punches to the body our allowed when standing up.
-knees and kicks are allowed standing up.
-all types of throws and takedowns are legal.
-There are no mouth pieces and gloves, but fighters are reqiured to wear wrestling boots, shin gaurds, and knee pads.
-In the event of a knock down by strikes a 10 count is issued, if a fighter can't answer the 10-count he loses.
-Joint locks and Choke holds are legal.
-there is no striking on the ground. Making the ground game far more technical.
-a rope break can be used to restart the match standing.
-There is no rounds only a 30 minute time limit.
-there's a 5 point system. Each time a fighter uses a rope break, or gets knocked down, he loses a point. If he loses all 5 points he loses by TKO.
So it's jarrastically different from MMA. Pancrase slowly made the transition from it's original shoot fighting roots to modern day MMA.
I enjoy shootfighting, but my favorite aspect of MMA is Ground and Pound. which Shoot fighting lacks.

The fighters didn't know what the hell they were doing and fights. Royce just laid on the mat 75% of the time. look up Cro Cop and Fedor on youtube, and tell me if you think they're boring.
