Has anyone heard anything about him, a friend of mine just sent me this, "hey listen since your such a wrestling fan i thought you should know that mike awesome committed suicide this past week. my mom told me. i'm really upset about it cause when i lived in FL i met him & he was such a sweety. he was my uncles best friend so i have the instead scoop. sorry to have to inform you. but i thought you would like to know." has anyone heard anything?

Last I heard, he was selling real estate in ... Florida I think? I have heard nothing of a suicide. Sorry to be of no help whatsoever.

It's not on any of the wrestling dirt sheets, which are live for the PPV, so I'm guessing (and hoping) false.

Awesome was one of the best big men around & I haven't seen him since the first ONS where he had a hell of a match, I hope he's OK.

I haven't found any mention of of this. I really think it's false. I'm pretty sure sites like the Observer and others would be quick to mention it if it were true.
And, yes, Awesome's match at the first ONS was indeed Awesome.

I hope it's false too, thats why I'm trying to find some evidence. I was watching One Night Stand 05 when i got the message, that was such a great match.

Mike Awesome has joined the Original Ultimate Warrior and Paul Orndorff in the pantheon of death rumors. I don't think I've ever heard an Orndorff death rumor, where was I for that lol. After he dissapeared from the WWF in the late 80's I believe he kind of left wrestling, so somehow the rumor that he had died started circulating around. It was put to rest when he showed up in WCW in the early 90's. |
