He shouldn't sell the move.
It would have more impact visually if he just did it and covered them.
It looked cooler when Superfly did it.

I think It's probably something he started doing to set himself apart. It's kinda goofy, but It's RVD.

have u ever done a frog splash? and for that matter, do u get the air RVD gets and the impact as well? That was one of the things i loved about the move, it made it feel more legit. no I havent, what does that have to do with anything? its pointless to sell the move like that.. how does it make it more legit being as though its an offensive move? I really, really hate it as well. It makes him look like a retard as he can't even perform his own finishing move without hurting himself. Plus no-one else ever does it so it makes him look really weak. |

K. In kayfabe, if he's doing anything to win the match and he hits a desperation move and it hurts it ribs, then he would just lay on top of the guy and try to get the pin. Man up. Unless he broke something, which he hasn't yet. Oversell...of his own move!
And outside of kayfabe, he lands on his hands and knees, he's not really rolling around like he got hit in the ribs with a baseball bat because his frog splash hurt him.

Maybe RVD isnt selling it at all, maybe other wrestlers who do the move are simply doing a better job of hiding how much it hurts?

I think it adds to the move.
If I was in a street fight. I wouldn`t hesitate to headbutt the guy attacking me. It would hurt my own head, but it would hurt him more.
It shows he`s so hungry for the win he`s willing to do almost anything.

why does rvd sell the frog splash like it hurts him to do it? do big deal, just a small thing that always annoyed me. When a guy crashes down, midsection to midsection with another man from a great height, it would hurt. It's entertainment. That's why people are fearful of Taker, Kane, Umaga, Kahli. That's why you would lie in the middle of a ring and WAIT for Scotty 2 Hottie to drop an elbow across your throat. Sports entertainment. Start suspending your disbelief......now. |
