The big question here, is whether or not Mike Awesome belongs in the WWE HoF. I loved the guy, but no.

The only Awesome match I ever saw was at ONS vs Tanaka, but I thought it was the match of the night, which was hard to say, considering that it was the best PPV they had in 05. So, this news affects me little, but to all you fans, I gotta say, I'm sorry.

Terrible news, and to hear that it was suicide makes it even worse. I was a fan of Mike Awesome since his first ECW match, and it was great to see someone get to the top of his promotion just based on pure talent. My prayers are with his family, and thanks to everyone here who've posted videos of his matches.

This is really sad news. I was thinking about Mike Awesome over the weekend, and how great of a worker, and wrestler he was in ecw, wcw, and wwe. The ball was dropped with the big man, but he still had a great career. My prayers go out to his family, and friends. First Bam Bam, and now Mike Awesome. How sad, both so young, and dying within a month of each other.

wax wrestling. I'm gonna waxing stop watching if people I like are gonna die all the waxing time. Mike Awesome looked waxing mint back in 05, what the wax happened to him in 2 years? He was never super roided or anything either. wax the wrestling business.
Wait it was suicide? God f***ing dammit. What the f***ing hell.

Mike Awesome looked waxing mint back in 05, what the wax happened to him in 2 years? There was actually speculation that Awesome could be coming back just based on how good of shape he was in. I don't know if he had changed appearance wise, but at 40 he was in better shape than plenty of guys.

RIP Mike, and everyone remember the good times. (This is the Tanaka match from ECW on TNN; I know it's been posted already, but for anyone that overlooked back a few pages, here it is) The strange thing is, there was a Mike Awesome thread that started on another board (KFAN Rube Chat) just days before he died. I saw posts that were saying "How creepy is this thread now?", and I immediately thought "Oh no, don't tell me Mike Awesome died."

Man, what unexpected and absolutely horrible news. :/
I was never really much of a Mike Awesome fan, but it's always sad when a wrestler goes, especially someone way before his time. RIP Mike.

It's strange. Last night I was watching an Awesome video on YouTube and was wondering if he's ever come back to the squared circle, and then I found out the news of his death about 20 minutes ago.

Brought over from the other forum. I'm a huge Mike Awesome fan. Have been since I was 16 and saw this match for the first time. He was and is a shining example of what a dink Vince Russo and Vince McMahon can be. How can you not get a guy who is this big, this agile, and this AWESOME over? He was a freak. A big man that could fly and flat out wrestle, and its a damn travesty that he was never used properly in the Big 2. I remember when my daughter was about 8 months old, i was wandering through the local KayBee toystore and I saw the Mike Awesome WCW figure for like 2 bucks. I bought it "for her"(though it was really for me mostly) and let her play with it, and for some reason it became a favorite toy of hers. Most of his mullet paint is gone cause she used to chew on it all the time. One of the first things I got her to say was "My Awtome" She still has it 5 years later. I never would've guessed he would go out like this. I don't know why he did what he did, but I hope it brought him peace. Thank You Mike.

Hopefully a memorial will be shown at the beginning of ECW since they didn't show one on Raw.

What a terrible year this has turned out to be. As if the recent death of Bam Bam Bigelow wasn't enough to mourn over...
If this is true, I sincerely wish nothing but the best for Awesome in the afterlife. He gave so much as a wrestler and entertainer, and I'll never forget the contributions he made in Japan & ECW.

Jesus christ that is absolutely friggin' awful.
Mikes way up there in my top 10 wrestlers of all time - no messing, the guy was a waxing powerhouse who turned it on wherever he went. Such a shame he didn't make it big in the WWE when he moved over there because the guy was one of the best.
I'm so shocked, i don't even know what to say. RIP to The Gladiator - Mike Awesome.
