HULK HOGAN DISCUSSES HIS SIDE OF WHY HE WON'T BE AT WRESTLEMANIA, NAMES HE'D START A COMPANY WITH AND MUCH MORE
by Mike Johnson @ 4:41:00 PM on 2/22/2007
Hulk Hogan appeared on Bubba the Love Sponge's satellite radio show this afternoon. Jagger Kaye sent along the following notes on the appearance:
Hogan called in to promote his daughter's new video on VH-1 and asked the "Bubba Army" to vote for it on VH-1.
When asked if he and Vince McMahon were working everyone and he was going to appear at Wrestlemania 23 after all, Hogan responded, "No way." Hogan claimed that McMahon told him that WWE has changed and there is no longer just one "it" performer anymore, but a number of "it guys" on top. McMahon claimed that Hogan cannot take "the bulk of the money" anymore and that is where the problem is. Hogan's side was that he would deserve the biggest payday and Vince felt that others deserved it.
When discussing Summerslam 2005, Hogan said the pop he received when wrestling Randy Orton was huge and couldn't be followed except for "maybe one guy" although he didn't specify who that was. Hogan said he should be paid accordingly instead of sharing in PPV and Box Office receipts.
Hogan claimed that Vince McMahon wanted to water the Hulk Hogan character down so he doesn't need to compensate him properly. Hogan said Vince is trying to build a brand and Hogan's popularity interrupts that when he appears.
When asked if TNA was an option, Hogan responded he may have "other things up his sleeve" and hinted at having his own company. When asked who would want to start a company with, Hogan dropped Big Show, Scott Hall, and Kevin Nash's names.
Hogan claimed that he never signed the 20 year contract offered to him by WWE, but that "Steve Austin signed a lifetime deal."
Hogan closed by saying that he wished he could be at Wrestlemania 23 but could not get paid like the other "it guys" Vince has on top of the roster.
Bubba mentioned Howard Stern is vacationing in Miami right now and that Hogan should visit him. Hogan said he never went through an interview like he did when appearing on Howard's show. He said after that appearance, Linda gave him hell and they talked divorce, but he likes Howard and would call him in Miami.
