Im not trying to come off as a heartless jerk or anything, but is it just me or is it that when a wrestler dies that he becomes more popular and people think he is better than he actully is. Yes, guys like Eddie Guerrero, Roadwarrior Hawk, and Curt Hennig were all great wrestlers. But then people give way to much credit to some of the other dead wrestlers. Any Thoughts?

I agree for the most part. It's sad when a guy dies, but you've got to be sensible about it.

To an extent yes, we do tend to take guys/gals that have passed and overrate them. However, that is because we don't look back to the bad times or to the times when they were not at their best. We look to the times we enjoyed the most and remember them. That tends to sugar coat (for lack of a better term) our memory of them. Its not a bad thing, its just human nature.

Exactly what Squizz said. People don't remember the bad times.

I agree with you, although that's human nature. If someone asked for the opinion of Mike Awesome last week, it would have been much different then the lovefest he got over the weekend

My opinion of Awesome has always been pretty much the same. A good wrestler who I was only able to see when he was going through the worst phase of his career, IE his WCW days.

I think most people act over dramatic about it. Mike Awesome and BBB are some of my favorites but I'm not sad. I dont know them they dont know me. I'm sad when my dog dies, I'm sad if a close friend or family member dies. I'm not sad over people I dont know. All I can say is it's a shame I wont see another new Mike Awesome match but its not like I thought about him at all yesterday or today. Its obvious that some people jump on the sympathy bandwagon. I remember on another forum, not this one, when BBB died someone said "OMG! I just saw him on Boy Meets World, this is so sad! "

I could relate to Aweosme only as a wrestler, once he quit wrestling he was just Mike alfonso a guy who I never met and would likely never meet. It always sucks when people die but we as wrestling fans can only relate to the characters, since we do not know the real people. I was far more upset when Guererro died because he was still on tv but Aesoem and especially Bigelow I hadnt seen in years. Its sad but when your favourtie wreslter dies its like your favourite character on a tv show dieing.

This always makes me think, what is the IWC gonna do when Vince McMahon dies? It's gonna be interesting.

Eddie Guerrero, Roadwarrior Hawk, and Curt Hennig were all great wrestlers. You mis-spelled "Owen Hart".

I look at the deaths by a case by case basis.
I look at Eddie's death. It was known that he did drugs, possibly steroids and other stuff that hurt his body, causes of heart failure. Preventable. And long term use of that stuff causes heart failure, so I'm not too saddened by it.
Owen's death. He fell. Not his fault, no control. Very sad and tragic.
Awesome's death. From what I heard it was a suicide. I'm not about to feel bad for him, if he wanted to leave he got his wish.
Bigelow's. A murder. Very sad/tragic.
I really don't come onto message boards to talk about stuff like this though. I keep my feelings to myself. I come here to talk about wrestling...and maybe other stuff in off topic. But mostly wrestling.

No offence to Owen Hart, but he was a midcarder who had he not died would have always been a midcarder and people wouldnt have cared much about him...Hawk was 1/2 of one of the if not the greatest tag teams of all time. i also didnt start this thread to say who was better than who, just to ask peoples thoughts on it.

I totally agree. I swear, if someone like Trevor Murdoch was to die, the sites would be full of people saying "He was my favourate ever".... "One of the greatest".... "Should have been world champion" etc etc.
the good ol' death bandwaggon eh?

Yeah, But Bam Bam, Awesome, Eddie, Candido did deserve to be champions.
Id like to see how Vince would do a tribute if someone like Khali died or something

The only guys I can say I was 'sad' about was Owen, Hennig, and Tenta.
I pay my respects to the others in their threads, but I can't say it affects my life adversely.
Hell, I basically expect it at this point.

No, It's actually that they were always good, but the fans are picky about them or this and that. When they die, everything eases up and the main things are remembered, and most of them tend to be good.
