I was reading another thread and the WWE has released a box set containing every Royal Rumble. Of course they come complete with edited commentary(Jesse Ventura specifically), changed theme songs, and the constant blurring of everything with a WWF symbol. I started reading some feedback and the "I'm not buying that blurry edited garbage" sentiment seems to be getting larger by the minute. I support that sentiment 100 percent. It only took me one DVD to get aggravated enough to quit buying them. The whole concept is completely insane to me. Vince and company have spent millions of dollars purchasing the rights to every significant piece of wrestling footage out there. With their 24/7 channel and DVD releases, footage that was wasting away in a basement somewhere now has found new life. Who else would buy World Class Championship wrestling for $500,000 dollars? Yet, the legacy built by the WWF themselves is tarnished beyond belief. They can show 1970 A.W.A. footage in its entirety, but WWF footage from WWF has to go through intern editing factory. I realize that legal issues are the cause of this problem. Those legal issues need to be fixed. First and foremost, the issue with the World Wildlife Foundation has to be resolved that results in the logo blurring has to be resolved. I can understand WWE logic when it comes to other DVD issues. The WWE can't justify paying some band millions just because some wrestler used to play 30 seconds of their copyrighted during their entrance in 1988. I can live without the original score. I would love to have Jesse's commentary intact, but if his asking price is too high then I can live without it. I think the WWE needs to offer a deal in advance to all the prominent commentators so problems can be avoided in the future. What if Tony Schiavone follows the example of Jesse? How much WCW material will have to be edited? I just can't accept the blurs and edited out WWF references. Perhaps, the WWE has a master plan to release blurry box sets now, make a deal with the World Wildlife Fund later, so that they can re-release unedited versions later(which would be the lowest of low). How can they be totally ignorant to the fact that sales are being damaged by the editing? There are too many alternatives to buying the blurred garbage these days. The WWE almost justifies online piracy even by the harshest critics of file sharing. If Vince had to give 5-10 percent of the profits to the animal WWF, do you think increased sales would make up for the loss? I for one would have a much bigger wrestling library. How about you?

a blurry image has no effect on me at all, I watch WWE dvd's (i have the wrestlemania anthology and will be buying the rumble one) and yes, i noticed the blurred images and the changed music, but it didnt bother me in the slightest. i love WWF/E because it has entertained me my entire life. The "im not watching that blurry crap" attiude just doesn't cut it with me. If you cant watch it because off a small, inconsequential detail likea blurred image in the background, then you're not really into the wrestling that much to begin with.
On another note, Jesse Ventura would appear to be, a complete jackass, he has a chance to immortalize himself on DVD in a well protected library for years to come. But, for a man who im sure is not poor, he's incredibly greedy.
Watch the DVD's or dont watch them, but dont complain about a minor detail on an other flawless presentation of wrestling history. Hemmeorrhage, this isnt ashot at you, but rather at the people who have complained that they WILL NOT watch these DVD's with the blurred images. get over it, it ha no effect on the product. There, rant over.

They're not really a big problem to me. I mean yeah, they're there and sometimes they can be a little annoying. But unless you're really looking out for them they shouldn't bother you too much.

I hate when people complain about the enterance music being changed. Who cares about what music someone came out too, the product in the ring is important, I would'nt care if they took out entrances and started the match when they got to the ring.
If you're watching pro wrestling for the wrestlers music, then I guess it's time to stop watching.

How do we know Ventura's commentary will be gone? Or are people just assuming that's the case?

i thought i heard something about Ventura and WWE coming to some sort of arrangement so that he can be heard now. Was he on the Hogan anthology? i think he may have been, but ive been wrong before, once, in the summer of 96, so very very wrong

I am pretty sure he'll be on.
The blurred logos aren't even really noticeable.....I didn't even see them watching the WM Anthology stuff, unless I was looking for them.

Let people complain about the Edits, It's annoying.
Plus we pay hard earned money for the friggin things at least give us the total package (Not Lex Luger).
That's why i prefer the VHS, Yes there are MINOR edits but they're not that noticable.
If the people out there don't mind the edits Good for you

Of all the WM Anthology and other WWE DVDs I own, the only time I've ever actually cared for an edit or change from the original was WrestleMania VI, when they took out "Common Man" from Dusty Rhodes' and Sapphire's entrance. I verbally shouted, "Oh come on!"...and yes, I realize I'm a huge nerd for that.
And yeah, the Attitude logo blurs upset me, but its something that just eventually I don't even notice.

Bottom line is, that one day WWE's gonna buy the rights so all the stuff will get unedited anyway, and it'll just get released about five years from now, so the same people will buy the same stuff over and over again. It's the exact same stuff that George Lucas does.

I respect your rant and opinion, but I still like having the footage as it was years ago, untouched, so I don't buy the new DVD's, just do tape/DVD trading instead, that way you can have everything untouched and save a lot of money to boot. I have a right to complain as I do watch their product and pay for some of their PPV's, but I know enough to not buy it if I feel something is taken away from it.
