It's not like he's that over with the casual fans. And chances are, he probably won't be anytime soon.
From a financial standpoint, Benoit is pretty much worthless to the company at this point.

TNA has their eyes on this thread!
But anyway, nope. The only reason that Benoit's not over is because he's not being really as showcased as he was during his World Title reign. Now the focus is on everyone else, and the United States title is pretty much worthless.
Plus, for all you who WISH it would happen, WWE will not give us Punk/Benoit anyway, so stop wishing.

I think he is over.
He might not be main event but he certainly gets a upper mid card pop, and if you want ten minutes of good tv...who do you turn to?
I disagree with your post totally.

I understand he's a good wrestler, but they never have a good program for him, and he'll probably never achieve his WM20-ish level of popularity again.
It's time to send him packing or to some place like OVW or DSW so he can help develop new talent.

The fact is he is still popular, still entertaining, and if they him to put people over he can do it just as easily in the big leagues.

I'm not sure how over he is with the casual fan, but he shouldn't be released. He is a good upper-midcard guy who could be used to get younger guys over. Give him the occosional title shot, but he isn't the kind of guy you buld you company around.

I only want him to be released so he can go to TNA and have matches with Joe, Austin Starr, Chris Daniels, Petey Williams, etc.

So if a guy isn't on the very top there isnt a place for him? Going from being a main-eventer to a midcarder is embarrassing. For who? You? How can you be embaressed by what part of a card the wrestler is on? And if Benoit himself were ashamed of it he'd quit.

I think it's time to release a lot of the oldies who don't bring in enough money.
People like Benoit & Hardcore Holly are just hurting their chances of appealing to the age demographic they want.
But Flair, on the other hand, is still widly popular, so he is fine to have around.

How do you know how much money they're bringing in though? None of us do.

He gets pretty big pops and SEVERAL post-match standing ovations a year. Sounds like a keeper to me.

It's not time to release him, but I don't get why he's always toting this US title.

If you release every single wrestler who dont draw x number of fans you'll have 4-5 guys on each brand, tops.
Hell..ECW wouldnt even exist.
