Now, heres something it is of the opnion on here that RVD and Sabu's incident with the police while RVD was champ , well was not just stupid but reckless too and played a part in ECW's downfall etc...
but heres something how much worse would it have been if..say Austin was charged with Wifebeating while being WWE champ?
how would THAT have affected things?
I'm actually genuinely curious, I mean other guys have had brushes with the law, but how would it have damaged WWE if they were champions in the spotlight at the time of their arrests?
if RVD's screwed ECW..what effect would the others have had?

If it was Austin, they'd make a gimmick about it and have a good laugh.
Anyone here who seriously thinks Austin would be punished like RVD was is crazy.
Now lets try NOT to get this thread locked, k?

Screw champs. Imagine how much things would have changed if Vince himself went to jail in that steroids trial.

Sometimes I wish WWE went out of business instead of ECW and WCW. Or AWA and WCCW for that matter.

If so, who knows, Vince might puppeteer her from jail to run things his way.

Yeah, sorry to say Rednecks out here, but wifebeating would fit in perfectly with Austin's character.
I kinda think Vince was waiting for RVD to fail anyway........so he went for broke when RVD did f*** up.

Dude, are you just gonna start an RVD related thread a day just to stir up a crapstorm? Do you really think thats his intention? It was mainly other people that ruined the last thread, plus he's specifically asking about other champs, if them getting arrested would have the same effect as RVD, not about Van Dam himself But who'd run things? Linda? If so, who knows, Vince might puppeteer her from jail to run things his way. Jerry Jarrett was picked by McMahon to run things if Vince was sent to jail. Ha, interesting, I think I had heard that in the past and forgotten. A bizarro Kliq where DOUBLE J ruled the roost? Jesus christ, THINK ABOUT IT....people griped about Michaels....we got LUCKY

Honestly, at this point, it's just inviting a freakin' flame war to happen.

I think there was a HUGE double standard, and I think RVD got a TREMENDOUS raw deal. You don't. I'm 100% fine with that.

Jesus christ, THINK ABOUT IT....people griped about Michaels....we got LUCKY Plus, Austin had heat with ol Jeff over his early years. Austin used his pull when he was the hottest thing on the market to get even with Double J by not letting him get up to the mian event. If Jerry had control, I bet you Austin would have gone back to ECW rather than deal with Double J: WWF Champion.

Back to the Austin question, it all depends on when it happens. If it is during the Attitude era and the hight of his popularity, then it would made into part of the storyline.
If it was toward the end of his run, they would probably take the belt off of him and fine him a grand or two. He might get it back after everything blew over but, might not have depending on who got it.

WWE had to do something about it or they would be criticized for not following the Wellness Policy.

I think Stone Cold would've been raked over the coals. Seriously, think about how much exposure Austin had during his prime. Now, think about the wifebeating incident happening during this.
I have no doubt in my mind that there would be a backlash. Vinny might try and keep mum about it on TV, but it would be hard to ignore the protest groups that would inevitably show up and cry foul over a company keeping Austin as their "role model" for kids. At this point, with Austin's star crashing at an alarming rate, with parents refusing to buy their kids any sort of Austin (or WWE) merchandise and boycotting shows, this would force Vince to act accordingly and take Austin out of the top spot, and maybe out of the WWE for a period in time.
I think Austin would've done a "Rocky Maivia" style comeback months later, as a complete heel, because the fans would've pretty much wanted him dead at that point.

Austin probably wouldn't have been punished too badly no matter what, but yeah at the end of his run he probably would've lost the belt.
Also, Double J with his own kliq would be like him in TNA times 10.

He got caught by the cops driving while high. And there was video tape of it. WWE had to do something about it or they would be criticized for not following the Wellness Policy. That Wellness Policy is a bunch of s***. It's been amended more times I can count. For example, with Test's recent apparent violation, I read that the policy has been changed to keep him off house shows, but WWE can still use him on TV if they wish. Yeah, it'll cost him a few hundred, few grand at the most. Plus, they could've still punished RVD. Fine him. Send him to rehab (wouldnt have worked), hell, dropping the WWE title could've been punishment enough. Or even if he still lost to Big Show, let him win the title back months later, either at D2D or a singles match on the Sci-Fi show. They've nearly killed an entire damn brand just to prove a point and get back at RVD

I feel the RVD is way too harsh. What RVD did was not a terrible thing in Many people smoke pot. Whats the big deal. If it was cocaine I could see the point (i.e-Micheals) but pot? What the hell! Smoking pot is no less dangerous than cigarettes, alcohol or caffeine. All legal drugs. The whole idea that idea that pot is unacceptable where alcohol is while if you drink too much you can die of alcohol poisioning(which many have friends have had alcohol poisioning)
With pot if you smoke alot you go to sleep. Seriously people here in America have a major malfunction on values. It is not a gateway drug, it is not deadly, pot smoking is not the same thing as using leeches and if you smoke pot an alien wont steal you're girlfriend. Seriously you people have been infected by propaganda and mind have been warped to teach you to listen to whatever out retarted government tells you!
But I'm not telling you anything you already didn't know.
