Regarding the original topic, ECW lost its uniqueness the moment it aired on Sci Fi.
As for the people trying to claim this show is still true to the original spirit of ECW in any way, shape, or form... Words just fail me.

Wrestling fans can't tell the difference. Or at least, that's what heel Striker'd tell you. Maybe ignorance really is bliss. Yeah. It is.

Call me an idiot, but maybe i see what they are going for. I was pissed at what ECW has become, and still am, but even if it was Lashley and Holly, when I saw some tables and chairs i got excited. I guess what I am saying is that they have kind of built it to where it is a big occasion.
BUT I CAN ONLY WATCH KELLY DO A DAMN BACKFLIP SO MANY TIMES!!!!! THAT IS NOT COOL TRICK.

One argument against ECW that I hate is how they put "WWE rejects" on the show. ECW was always a place for the misfits of the wrestling world basically. They took people that no one else was willing to push or even sign and make them their own. Al Snow didn't just show up one day with a head. He was WWF jobber Leif Cassidy (and Avatar) and was shipped over to ECW. They turned him into a star. Justin Credible wasnt "credible" at all until he hit ECW. Because he had a yellow jock strap on his face and was Aldo Montoya. He went on to be an ECW main eventer. Rob Van Dam?......WCW job boy Robbie V. ECW turned him into Mr. PPV, Mr. Monday Night, etc. etc. etc. Sabu and Jerry Lynn....WCW stuck them in a lower midcard feud with each other. They decided they couldnt work with Sabu, and they continued to job Jerry Lynn(Mr. JL). Raven....Managed the Quebeccers in the WWF, and was a lightweight in WCW before he became a superstar in ECW. Balls Mahoney.....WWF made him an evil Santa imposter from the South Pole. ECW made him the chair swinging freak we love. Chris Candido....WWF stuck him with a crapty gimmick with not much chance to go far. ECW made him "No Gimmicks Needed" Chris Candido. How about Shane Douglas....WWF waxed him up both times they had him, WCW gave him a decent push in the tag division, but not much singles wise. He become THE man in ECW. And theres many more im sure. What im saying is, why is it bad that ECW is getting guys like Lashley, Snitsky, Test, Striker, Burke, etc. etc. I don't see how it's different from the real ECW. They would take in the guys no one wanted, and make them into something. That just looks like its continuing to me. You are 100 percent correct. I think a lot of people on these boards really dont know at all what the old ecw was about. I agree with both you guys.. I don't know how it could be broken down any simpler.. well Wait until ONS3 and everyone on the board is talking about how freaking awesome it was.. it'll be up there with wrestlemania

I noticed over the past few Exposes that Kelly has to look over at the other girls in order to almost find out what to do next. Which isn't good. I like how every week something happens to interuppt them. Becuase it's just a waste of tv time.

Anyone expecting WWE to put out an old school ECW show with Original ECW Alumni was fooling himself...
WWE wanted a third brand to "park" superstars they didn't know how to use on RAW/SD, or that they felt needed a bit of "WWE minor league" time to getting in touch with WWE style and crowds.
The ECW name and some old wrestlers are just a smart advertising strategy... ECW sounds better than Tuesday Night Brawl or something similar.

I don't believe that.. I think they really want ECW to be its own brand.. just like Smackdown and Raw.. and I like that idea..

In kayfabe it's ok, but in reality we know ECW is just another brand, like RAW and SD! are. WWE can push some kind of internal rivalry between the brands, but every fans know (I guess at least) that it's all WWE in the end. Sure, WWE try to present ECW as the more hardcore of the three, but it doesn't take a genius to realize it's the C-show, if only for the least airtime it has...

JR on his blog said that we'll never probably ever see the Original ECW style again. I've gotten used to it being the 3rd brand.

I came to terms with it being a third brand months ago. what bothers me and many others is the continuing use of th ecw name. Most old school ecw fans have abandoned the new ecw and the name value is lost when most fans see ecw as another failed companey like wcw. Heyma is gone, there seems to be no interest in bringing in other old school ecw wrestlers, they rarely do hardcore matches, and there is like 6 old ecw wrestlers still on the show. The ecw name dont mean shit anymore call it tuesday night terror or some other shit.

You are basically right and aside from RVD, all the originals are 40+ years old. People complain about Batista's age, yet they would love to see Dreamer as champion. Also, the old ECW can't be the same due to many things, including traveling and working more days. A lot of states iirc would ban some of the things the old ECW did in Philly, and guys wrestle more than once a week, which would do numbers to their bodies if they wrestle hardcore all the time. I think the only problem with ECW that is big is the fact that all the wrestlers being put over, aside from CM Punk and Bobby Lashley, are heels. ECW needs to develop some good midcard faces in order to be more credible.
