I remember in 1992, Randy Savage going over the top rope to attack Jake Roberts after eliminating him and the Undertaker throwing Savage back in. Monsoon and Heenan were confused and thought Savage eliminated himself, but they soon covered it up and said you must be propelled by someone else over the top.
In 1997, Mil Mascaras dove over the top to attack another mexican wrestler and he was eliminated. I think Ahmed Johnson did this too that same year going after Faarooq.
I'm sure other wrestlers have ''eliminated themselves" in other years, so did Savage mess up when he went over the top or did they add the ''self elimination" rule later?

Bossman did it the same year as Savage by "accidentally" falling over the top while charging at Flair. Sure, Flair moved, but I dont think he touched Bossman.
There was a bit of silence after Savage jumped out, I think Vince was telling Monsoon/Brain to make up some BS about it. He probably got over-excited and jumped out on his own. Remember this IS the guy who tried to PIN in the 94 Rumble ::rolls eyes::

What about when Vader cleared the ring after he was eliminated, throwing HBK (the eventual winner) over the top in the process. HBK and the others were allowed to carry on.

I'm totally appalled that there is so little consistency in the RR rules... I might start a petition.

There should be counted out for exiting the ring and not allowed to win like Vince did when he stayed outside for most of the Rumble. I find that REAL lame...
Also, in regards to one foot touching the floor.... why does nobody land on their back or something somehow and rise up on one leg with the second foot not touching(just both hands and the one foot, then hop back to the ring and get back in? I'm still waiting for THAT technicality card to be played. Imagine it for a moment, and discuss...

Andre the Giant eliminated himself when Jake the Snake brought Damien into the ring AFTER he himself had been eliminated, Andre just never came back, but I think they counted it as an elimination

Foley clotheslined Orton to eliminate him at the 2004 rumble, and eliminated himself in the process.

HE WOULD HAVE WON DAMMIT!!!

I mean, even if you land on one foot and both hands or something, you still got tossed out.

I guess the ultimate rule is "If you jump out on your own and just don't come back you're out."
Stuff like the Bossman elimination, and One Man Gang in the 1st Rumble (which is how Duggan won it), count since they were trying to eliminate someone but screwed up.
And eliminating yourself while eliminating someone else should count as an elimination too.

I think there is a cover-up (Kaybefae) response to the problems listed.
Mil Mascaras climbed to the top rope to prepare for his leap. You can see referees waving at him, as if warning him not to do the move. He does, and therefore is eliminated.
Savage flung himself over the ropes before the referees could warn him not to, so he was allowed back in.
Whenever someone charges at a wrestler and misses, sending them over the top rope, they are eliminated because they did not go over the top rope by choice.
The year Vader cleared the ring with wrestlers, Gorilla Monsoon was Commisioner and ruled that all could continue in the Rumble. I think Vince mentions that on commentary.
As for Andre "jumping" out of the ring when Jake came in with the snake, it can be covered by saying that the Giant was so scared that he chose not to return, eliminating himself from the competition, much like Drew Carey did in fear of Kane.
That is how I'd cover it up.

That is how I'd cover it up. Mil actually went thru the ropes to get to the top. Chavo did the same thing last year, only HHH pushed him off. Technically, he didn't go from in the ring over the top and out - that "thru the ropes" maneuver messes things up a bit. So I'd guess the rule could be "anyone propelled off any turnbuckles is an elimination." Other than that (and I actually like your explanation better but figured I'd toss my $0.02 in too), this all makes sense!!! I'd suggest the WWE hire this guy...........but they won't.

What about when Vader cleared the ring after he was eliminated, throwing HBK (the eventual winner) over the top in the process. HBK and the others were allowed to carry on. That bothers me. Vader eliminated HBK in '96, but they said that it didn't count because Vader had already been eliminated. But in '97, Ahmed Johnson eliminated Farooq AFTER Ahmed had already been eliminated, and it counted! Outrageous!

Whatever makes the macth make sense at the time is what they go with. If Mil Mascaras was going to be in the finals, then he woulda been allowed back in.
