"Continue being an ass" would imply that I was being an ass from the beginning. I wasn't. My reply there was illustrating how ignoring a person's actions just because of an occupational skill is ignorant. Your reaction would imply that I had a point. But nobody is ignoring his actions now, they're simply acknowleding his skill as well. I will always appreciate Chris Benoit as a wrestler, but what he's done now turns my stomach. You can do both, ya know. QFT

We're taking quite a beating out there in other forums, guys and gals. Hell, over on Fark they are having a hey day over all of this and the so-called redneck, mullet wearing, uneducated wrestling fans. Even moreso, the level of stupidity and misinformation out there is absolutely astounding.

I almost want to agree with those other forums right now.

No one is trying to ignore what he did. I definitely am not. I was just opposed to you criticizing people who decide that they want to remember Benoit in a more positive light. Although this is a horrible tragedy, a few of us actually think that this shouldn't be the thing that defines who Benoit is. It will be and frankly Benoit deserves it to be.

With the rumors of Benoit being paranoid, and not acting like himself for over a year, and the recent deaths of his friends, am I the only one that thinks he probably would have gotten away with this if he didn't kill himself. I think it would have been rather easy for him to get off on claims of temporary insanity. Doubting that considering how the MURDERS were Committed. I worked with the mentally Ill for over 15 years(Medicating them etc) there has been no proof that Benoit was mentally ill so why is it this seems to be a new excuse in order to absolve what happened? Anytime somebody makes someone there "Hero" they are setting themselves up for a fall. everybody is flawed in many ways (there way of thinking, sometimes there actions)but at no time does it justify the actions that happened!(Behavior and Illness are 2 Different things most "Ill" people do not do those things it's a common misconception. the word "Hero" is passed out way to much these days(Firefighters,Policemen,Doctors,Etc are real "Hero's") Benoit was a wrestler and a good one but far from the "Hero". instead of trying to make excuses for a heinous act why not take stock in everyones life? look around you and be glad who is around you? stop defending the act and at least give a ounce of sympathy to the real victims: Nancy and Daniel. R.I.P. Nancy and Daniel

Once something with which you have an intimate connection hits the news, you realize how bad a job they do of reporting.
And then it makes you wonder if what you read in the news is ever true.

The way I see it, everyone is going to have their own opinions. I would like to think that I would remember Chris for his in ring display and abilities, but I will most remember him for what he did that tragic weekend.

But Fark has field days with being inane and insensitive all the time. I'm a huge fan of the site and have just decided to not look at comment threads until this story dies down.

That might be the mass opinion, but I have a choice. I choose to respect who he was in ring and be disappointed in what he was/became in his personal life.

Gotta agree, this is just making us hate each other more by starting petty arguments. Perhaps all talk of Benoit should be suspended for a day or two, just to let the emotions die down just a tad.

The article probably fails to mention that Daniel had Fragile X Syndrome and was likely taking steroids so that he actually had a working muscular system. Admittedly, the Fragile X thing was (last I checked) not 100% confirmed, but everyone who mentions the steroids for Daniel without at least bringing that up is doing sloppy reporting.
