GASP! The H-word!!! Haha.
Blah, I enjoyed The Rock, personally, but that's just me...
...and everyone else who's that thus far.

The Rock bottom is just as weak as the F-U. now theres something I have to disagree with. the People's Elbow you may have a point with but not the Rock Bottom. one of my favorite finishers ever, not quite as good as the Stunner IMO, but ranks up there for me

The way I look at it is that the Rock gave the crowd a lot of interactivity in his promos. That why his promos seemed repetitive. When you can get an arena full of people go "Finally, the Rock HAS COME BACK.....to (insert town name here)." or "If ya SMEEEELLLLLL!" It makes the fans feel like they are part of the show. Cena used to have something like that when he had the crowd yell the last word of his raps. But since he dropped that its now just Cena talking, and the people have to just kinda sit there and listen. There isnt that sense of interactivity. A prime example of the "interactivity" was in 2004 when he came back to help Eugene. He had the crowd chanting anything he wanted them to. He got them to chant loud for Eugene, to chant "Popcorn Fart" on command, even had the crowd chanting "Screw the Coach" without asking them too. Another example was in December of 2003 when he came out to suprise Mick Foley and La Resistance. He got the crowd to chant "Fifi" at La Resistance. Sure some was repetitive, but watching those two skits shows exactly why The Rock is far superior to John Cena. You want a better exampe, his pretape bit before Wrestlemania got a larger pop than Cena did. In short, The Rock >>>>> Cena. And I like Cena.

I did hnot like the Rock when he was the hot star because I thought he was forced down our throats, given lines to say and couldn't wrestle, all done by Vince to make wcw look bad. It worked, WCW died, I cried. Nowadays I like the rock and wish he would come back for one match against of all people Cena just so I could hear the promos. Cena would leave crying. It would be worse than the punk card Scott Stiener dropped on Bubba Dudley

Threads like these are the reason I'm happy Rocky's doing movies instead of wrestling...

I despise it when people say that the Rock turned his back on wrestling or sold out. Think about this simple logic. Do a movie where you earn MINIMUM 2 million dollars or earn probably not as much wrestling on the road 4 days out of 7, risking injury.
Touch choice isn't it?

People are right, The Rock did sell out.......The Houston Astrodome that is! Oh and the Madison Square Garden, Safeco Field, etc.

Oh and Hollywood Rock is the most entertaining character I've ever had the pleasure to watch in wrestling.

Anybody remember his promo he did right before the 2002 Royal Rumble, and he was going to face Jericho for the Undisputed title. He comes out on Smackdown and begins to talk about how everyone is saying they are going to win the Rumble. He starts pointing at people in the crowd who he heard say they were going to win the Rumble and even pulled that camera man in the ring.

I've said it once and I'll say it again: I've never, NEVER, understood how people can stand up and decry Cena for having made poop jokes (though he really hasn't done them since his feud with Booker T over the US Title years ago) and gay jokes over the years, yet The Rock, in his prime and at the peak of his popularity, talked about hermaphrodites, anal insertions and poontang pie, in every single damn promo he cut. Like, every promo from 1999 to 2001 had all that. Yet somehow he's this bastion of awesome promo skills compared to Cena? Give me a break. You have a point, but it's all about delivery... The Rock just had a certain flare to his promos. The way he would have the crowd in the palm of his hands made you feel he was just a god-given natural on the mic. Plus he was just overall a funnier character than John Cena. The way he delivered his jokes just had that charm that Cena lacks. Cena just reminds me of that annoying white kid down the street that listens to Nelly and Eminem and just downright gets on your nerves. Not to mention that Cena is just in some ways a remake of The Rock. Try watching some classic promos from both, and you'll notice the difference in delivery, crowd reaction, crowd interaction, etc. Only Cenas heel promos and his first few face promos stand out. To summarise...The Rock >>>>>> John Cena.

First of all it does not mater what you think aobut the Rock LOL. But on the real, the Rock was one of best on the stick. And could work with anyone. And lets face facts it don't mater how many wreslting skills you got if you can't cut a promo and people fall alseep everytime they see you in the ring.

Now you say he got old about his promos being the same thing. Which yea he had the same lines but why would he change it when it was drawing? I mean listen to the reaction the man gets anytime his face shows up on WWE TV. Listen to the fans when he out there doing his promo. They are eating ever second of that. Cena doesn't even get that. Hell the last time the Rock was advertised or the fans knew that he was going to be on Raw. The show sold out. Then was during a time the fans knew he wasn't going to wrestle. But Raw sold out that night and I think the ratings were up.
All the greats had there catch phrases. I mean how many promos did Hogan end with Watcha going to Do with these 24 inch pythons and Hulkamania run wild you? Every face promo he ever did in the red and yellow since 84 ended that way.
How many times did Austin end his promos with "And that's the bottom line because Stone Cold said so."?
One thing for sure that would increase the rating promos would be the Rock or Austin.

The Rock bottom is just as weak as the F-U. I love the Rock and like Cena, but the one thing I have to take exception to in your list is this, because it remains, in my opinion, the most ridiculous thing people have levelled at Cena. It reeks of nitpicking and just finding anything to hate about someone. The FU is no weaker than any other finisher, the Angle Slam, the Chokeslam, the Stunner (which is basically just a jawbreaker and no one ever complained about that)...

To me The Rock is the great one. He has a natural charisma that we`ll probably never see again. Would start watching wrestling again regularly if he came back I think.
Cena bores me. Not because the F-U sucks or the 5 Knuckle Shuffle sucks, but because he, and the way he`s booked is boring.
