Eh, I understand why they're angry but it's up to them whether or not they take Austin's advice, it's not like he's holding a gun to their head or something. And even if he did it would just say "Bang 316" on it.

Austin: DAMMIT, you people need to have some class! Why don't you do guest spots on a Don Johnson TV show and beat your wife like a real man does!

According to the report I read, Austin also said something along the lines of "Stop dying, it makes the company look bad" and "In my first year I only made a measley, bulls*** $200,000." in a room full of guys where some of them don't clear $70,000 I call BS on this quote.

Well I know that there sure as hell is noone as entertaining to me on the roster as Austin, Rock, Hogan etc were. You knew those guys were a big deal. Edge? Orton? No dice

Austin, wear smart clothes you say, well, all I can say is HYPOCRIT. That plus most of the guys he's talking to are on less than he made even in ECW.

Wow. I can't imagine why that didn't go over well. I like Austin even less now. Before you change your opinion of the man, keep in mind - this whole thing is probably completely made up and he never said any of it. Just keep that in mind, interweb.

I call shenanigans on this. I wonder if all the superstars chanted "what" in between his sentences.

I have a feeling a lot of this was either exaggerated or lacking the right context. If it is true, then I'd have to raise an eyebrow on this. He may have a point about lacking superstars but improvisation and building your own character was central back then whereas they're given characters and scripted promos. So he'd be really out of touch on that

I wouldn't be changing my opinion except in the sense of going from disliking him to disliking him even more.

Maybe and maybe not, but seeing as Trips had a backstage meeting with the roster I wouldn't rule it out necessarily. And given how WWE is very different than what it was when Austin was on top, it's going to be that much harder to find another star of the Rock or Austin's caliber when every little thing they do is scripted. Even if they did come up with their own stuff, WWE Creative could veto it and shoot it down and they're back to square one.

Is nothing (even the verbal exchanges) improved now? Do wrestlers really have that much less freedom than in Austin's time?

If I recall, there were bulletpoints in those days as to what points to get into in a promo as opposed to the entire show being scripted, I remember someone showing an actual script from a Raw in 2005 that had every little bit of detail scripted to a T. If I'm wrong, then someone please correct me but in those days pretty much you could go on as you wish as long as you made your point. There was a Raw had to go off the air during a promo with Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart in the final segment which was to end with Shawn superkicking Bret in a wheelchair in May of 97, but Bret kept on talking and the show just ended in the middle of the promo because they ran out of time and had to show what happened on the weekend shows.

If the E wants a real change they need to stop scripting every damn breath a wrestler makes onscreen

You think thats bad try reading his book:
Page 45 "I came up with Stone Cold. No one else, it was all me. You gotta do stuff for yourself. I introduced myself to JR. I told him to do the 'Stone Cold Stone Cold!' Call. I invented boobs. I made the world is 5 days. I kicked chuck norris. I gave birth to a hand first. I was responsible for the rock's popularity. I came up with the script to Pirates And The Carb...Carbinia?...Carbnina? Oh hell get me a beer son"
It is actually like that. I know i seem OTT. And plus he stays close to his character in it. Like hardly breaking Chracter at all. Its really strange as i know he is close to how he comes off..but yeah.

Yes, this is it. This is what is going to turn the company's reputation around. WWE will be respected once all its employees start taking style advice from a man that dresses like Larry the Cable Guy.

Of course if we all wear suit in public we were suddenly be respected! Of course! Its so simple. Wait doesn't batista like *always* wear suits no matter the occasion. When he wants a title shot, when he gets a title shot, when he gets his title back, when he has a 'serious' feud.
Seriously i think batista will one day get invited to a fancy press party and he will go in a suit.

This story is only partly true. As Austin was about to tell the wrestlers to clean up their acts, he was interrupted by HHH's theme as HHH did his full entrance for the locker rooms benefit (He loves doing that).

Lol imagine Triple H just interrupting people and randomly doing his FULL Entrance. That would be so funny to watch.
