The fans cheer Batista because they don't know any better.

Cena is like that friend from high school who always yells and hangs out at least a half hour later then you want him to. Once in a while these threads have flashes of comedic brilliance. Well played, sir.

Because Batista at least has some sort of charchter. What is Cena's charachter? Plus I don't buy the argument of editing crowd responses. When I saw him in Albany the crowd went crazy for everything involving Batista(as well as Mysterio) so yeah i don't buy that. Plus I'd rather have Batista as champ than Cena.

Batista has clean losses more than once every two years. Really? Outside of the Undertaker, name one. I mentioned that in one of the chats. Since he's turned face that's been his only clean loss. Sad thing is he turned face before Mania 21, so it's been over 2 1/2 years.

i dunno. i am bored to tears everytime i watch him. with the exception of his ring entrance, there is nothing about him that i like. he just goes through the motions in every match he does. if batista got injured the night before a PPV, they could just piece together bits of old batista matches/promos, and iswear no one would notice. people moan about cena being repetitive, but cena does throw in a fair bit of variation, whereas batista does the same bloody match every week, followed by the same promo. everyone says that cena has "five moves of doom", but at least cena only gets repetitive during the finish of the match. batista just has five moves overall. he's like refridgerator noise: you know he's there, but you honestly don't care. and that is not the kind of performer who should be given a world title.
and the worst thing is, khali has a rematch clause, so we're gonna see another khalista mat classic.

Batista may not be that great, but people can get clean wins over him and his title reigns don't last for centuries like Cena's does.
Against Batista, bad guys at least have the possibility of winning. Against Cena, you practically know they're gonna lose.

Not including Wrestlemania.

I miss Batista's old entrance music.
edit: Why the emphasis on clean losses? Heels generally aren't supposed to beat faces clean, hence why basically his only clean loss is to another face.

That makes the fans dislike Edge more and want to see Batista get the big win. I don't recall Austin losing clean that often during his big face run. And Hogan went about seven years between clean losses at one point (1990 vs. Warrior to 1997 vs. Jacques Rougeau).

You're right in that he doesn't have clean losses that much, but he doesn't have what seems like a 3-year title reign either (Edge and RVD's title runs were so short it seemed like Cena has had a continuous reign even longer than he has)

Nevermind all the reasons to dislike his wrestling and so forth, Batista annoys the hell out of me in a kayfabe sense. Every week until he recently got it back has seen this meathead coming out and bitching about "his" belt he hasn't held in a year, and he doesn't stop until he's granted yet ANOTHER shot.

Batista gets treated better by fans than Cena because Cena is on the biggest brand (RAW) and has been champ too long, even though they feel that they can't take the belt from him, and Batista is almost always the persuer of the belt instead of the target of challengers. Fans generally like the persuit of the title more than a guy retaining the belt over a long period of time. It also doesn't help Cena that so many of his fans are children and women. Many male fans hate performers who are liked by kids (even though we were those kids at one time) and women because men don't like anyone who is that popular with the ladies. It is our way of being petty and jealous that we aren't being treated like that by the ladies. I think that this reason is stupid myself, but, I can see where there are fans who think this way.
