When you have children older than your opponent.
When you realize that you started your career 10+ years before most of your opponents were even born.
When you cannot even participate in a romantic angle with a diva because you're old enough to be their father.
If you can say you've worked for Vince Sr.
If you can say you participated in a Wrestlemania that still had jobber matches.
If your finishing move now has 12 different variations -- none of which are used as finishers.

4) You actually won/lost a match to a sleeper, missle drop kick or superplex. Then those old timers Jeff Hardy and Spike Dudley better hang em up too I suppose.

You remember when the most important thing about being a wrestler was being able to wrestle.

You remember when the most important thing about being a wrestler was being able to wrestle. QFT. Well times have changed and fans aren't keen on paying money to see a 60-minute chain-wrestling contest between two guys, it's more about entertainment. It may suck to some, but that's what we've come to.

It may suck to some, but that's what we've come to. While I don't completely disagree, I think there's still a big place for it. Look at the reaction to Angle/Benoit matches for instance. I don't think I've ever seen Cena or Batista lose a match and get a standing ovation.

Nowadays it's really hard to get fans into a match that doesn't involve Cena, Trips, HBK or Batista.

alot of wrestler seem not to know when to hang up the tights. They go into the ring with talent half their age and embarass themselves stiffly trying to pull of their old moves. Here are some signs to tell if the bell has rung for you. 1) You once inescapable finisher is now used 2 monutes into most matches. 2) You wreslted Hulk Hogan when he had a full head of hair. 3) You actually remembered when Mae Young was hot. 4) You actually won/lost a match to a sleeper, missle drop kick or superplex. 5) You wrestled in a tag match against the Rockers and thought that Janetti was the one who'd make it. Any more Booker T used the Missle Dropkick as his finisher in wcw and beat quite a few guys that are still on the E roster...

You wrestled PPV's that were on closed circuit TV.
A high spot meant cutting your forehead
You're wrestling one of your buddie's sons.

Back on topic... ...when people make jokes about you being made out of rubber. I seem to remember hearing a few jokes here and there about RVD's impressive flexibility and being compared to rubber.

When Terry Funk, Hulk Hogan, and/or Ric Flair tell you it's time to hang it up.
