To be devil's advocate though, Eddie Guerrero was kind of an over the top hispanic stereotype and I don't remember anyone complaining. I didn't like the whole "lie, cheat, and steal" gimmick. I thought the skits he and Chavo did were just as insulting. How many minority wrestlers DON'T have stereotype gimmicks and they've worked in the WWE to great success or even decent success? If they'd done Santino as just this "mean ass, UFC-type submission wrestler from Italy" and didn't go all "that's-a spicy meat-a-ball-a" with him, it still would've worked. Well, if they would have brought him up as his OVW charecter, Boris Alexiev, he would be speaking with a Russian accent instead and be accused of being the "evil, Russian sterotype". I love Santino the way he is now. He's way better then Boris Alexiev was IMO. The MMA gimmick has already tanked several times with guys like Dan Severn and Sylvester Terkay, so why go there again already, unless you have a guy that you think can really pull it off. The Boris Alexiev gimmick would have gone the way of Terkay just a year ago.

I like him though I've yet to see him wrestle.

I don't dislike Santino, but I don't find him as hysterically funny as many seem to. There are times when I find him amusing, and times when I find him unfunny. He needs to feud with a real wrestler instead of dinosaurs like Ron Simmons and Steve Austin, I think.

It seems like it's been a while since he's wrestled. I don't remember much of what he's like in the ring other than he seemed to kick guys in the leg a lot.
It's time to kick-a some-a leg!

Turning Santino heel is a great move by the WWE. He knows how to do a excellent heel promo and he takes something as lame as complaining about the condemned and me makes it interesting to watch. Santino is one of the few heels in the WWE that really grabs my attention.

I checked the roster list and the only available talents are Super Crazy and Super Greasy (Snitsky).

Santino is great in his current role. He is great on the mike and is very entertaining. In fact, he is one of the only things that is any good on RAW right now. They should have has Austin come out last night after Santino did his Austin imitation. The timing would have been perfect and the crowd would have been all over it. When it was revealed that Austin would appear next week, the crowd died so fast that you could have heard a pin drop in the arena from my TV at home.

I feel like a broken record every time the "ZOMG Santino is a stereotype" line of reasoning is brought up. So I'll say it again.
Pro wrestling, as a form of theatre, relies heavily on caricatures and stereotypes - just as vaudeville relied on music. Some are cultural in nature. Oh noes! The Highlanders, William Regal, Murdoch and Cade, that McAllister Guy, the Great Khali, Super Crazy, "Youmanga", Jimmy Wang Yang and of course Santino all come to mind as cultural stereotypes, and those were just the ones off the top of my head. How many more have there been? Cryme Tyme? La Resistance? Eddie Guerrero? Jesus even the Mean Street Posse fit this category.
In other words, complaining about stereotype and caricature in pro wrestling is like complaining that the moves are fake. If you want complex, quirky, in-depth, intricate character development, watch House or something.
EDIT: even Good Ol' JR is a cultural stereotype!

I think Maria's turning heel soon. Or will she remain permanently oblivious to her man's constant cheating to win matches and underhanded tactics?

I'll admit that on paper, Santino does merely have the gimmick of "over the top stereotype", but he really seems to have a natural charisma where he makes the gimmick work. I bet that if most guys were given this gimmick, it would just come across as really cheesy (pun?) like Salvatore Sincere or something. But Santino seems to really have made this character HIS, and he is making it work. It's the difference between Mario or Luigi and Chico Marx or Mr Botchagaloop I'm North Jersey Italian (Sicilian and Calabrese) and I don't find it offensive but then again I miss Imus.

I'm French Canadian, and I laughed my ass off through the 80s at the Rougeaus, Dino Bravo and Frenchy Martin, and through the 90s at La Resistance - although I DID cringe when Grenier almost killed Spike Dudley with that horrid botch. THAT made me shamed to be French more than any stereotype
