Amen, brutha. As long as Vince McMantard has a perpetual hardon for Batista-ish frames, and as long as guys are judged harshly for their cosmetic inadequacies, I'm afraid the problem is always going to be genocide. This point is made about 10,000 times every day on wrestlecrap, but really, how many Batista-ish frames are in WWE right now? It's not nearly as much as people make it sound. A couple of my other pet peeves have popped up in this thread: -As for Masters' gimmick - if he can't look the part without banned substances, he needs to go. Believe it or not, SOME have the genetics to pull that off. Muscles weren't invented in the 1970s when steroid use became widespread. One of the earliest films ever made (By Thomas Edison), showed a bodybuilder flexing. He was more built than Masters. This was around 1905. -Steroid use doesn't have a "look". Period. Lets not assume Masters was on steroids and Smith wasn't because of how they look. Steroids benefit everyone, including guys like Jamie Noble.

I had a lot of respect for Harry, but this is just dumb. Look what happened to his dad. Shame.

As a sidenote, I hope I am never EVER put into a position where I have to defend Chris Masters ever, ever again.

Do you think that this is the end for DH Smith? I think it would be unfair if they fired him on his first offense.

Its on wwe.com, and they really are releasing names now. "Chris Mordetzky has been suspended for 60 days, and DH Smith has been suspended for 30 days for violations of WWE’s Substance Abuse and Drug Testing Policy." www.wwe.com/inside/news/5794072And the Slammy Award for most smartest wrestler goes to....folks, it's a tie!

I can not count the number of people that bitched when Mysterio got pushed that he was "to small" to be a world champion... Vice likes big guys and has conditioned that but it's just as much fans fault. Even smarky fans who bitch about Vince's big man fetish turned around and bitched about Mysterio.... The same as the people who bitch they don't make new stars then when they do they bitch "no not that guy!" some people just like to bitch to bitch. You can call Vince all the names in the world problem is, his company is the the only wrestling company that is extremely successful and profitable on a world wide level...so he must not be that stupid. There is also a difference with a Small man like Hardys or HBK and someone shorter then some of the Divas winning a title.

The problem with Mysterio's title reign was that it was entirely based on Eddie Guerrerro, which many people didn't like.
Plus, if he had been promoted as a smaller guy who won and defended the title well, then I don't think there would have been a problem.
But he was booked to look like a joke.

Not to defend DH Smith, because I think he's basically a part of the IWC hype machine.
But it doesn't necessarily mean steroids. There's been cases of Olympic athletes failing tests for taking the wrong couch medicine.
Where as with Masters, it's pretty easy to put 2 and 2 together in his case.

why can't it be that way for masters too?
why does it have to be steroids? last time he got suspended it was his addiction to pain killers and he's been using anti-depressants

If Mysterio had been booked as a champion is usually booked, made to look like he, you know, deserved the title in some way, no one would complain. THe guy's over, works a good match, and I've never heard a report of him being a tool. However, lost at least three quarters of the matches he had while he was "World Champion", and was unceremoniously squashed in most of those losses. They paraded him out there as a joke, while the heels pointed that fact out at every turn, and in his entire title reign, I don't think I ever once heard the crowd chant for him, instead chanting for Eddie. I'm sorry, but that's the epitome of a badly booked run. Hell, it makes the whole "Jericho as dog watching champion" thing look like brilliant by comparison.

Right now, I'm not the side of the people who say the wellness policy is just flat out unfair. You know that Batista and Triple H will never fail a wellness test. Even if they are jacked up and test positive, it will just be buried like so many opponents. Meanwhile, if Harry Smith and Chris Masters come back after 30 days 50 lbs lighter and less chisled, Vince will say they dont have the look or are too small to get over. You just cant win with these people unless your related to them or they really like you and want to package you as a world champion. As far as an off season to take away from some of the rigors of the business and the need for painkillers, i dont think its neccessary. right now WWE has more guys under contract than they will ever know what to do with or have the concievable tv time to promote. Some proper planning and scheduling, and guys can have a month or more off to charge the batteries. And really, is there a reason for house shows within the US anymore? Outside of international tours, i see no reason these guys need to do anything more than be on tv.

That way, people can rest and also they don't get stale by being on TV all the time. When they are at rest, other guys can take their place and so forth...That might help with painkiller addictions. As for the house shows, I'd be interested to see the facts and figures. How much does WWE make from those shows and are they needed anymore?

The idea of a phased roster is why I think they need to recombine (at least) Raw and SmackDown. Then they can afford to give people time off without crippling the brand. To answer your question about House Shows, I think they have been down in the U.S. for years, but everywhere else they draw huge.

You know, I always wanted and expected Harry Smith to be clean knowing what it did to his Dad, Similar to why Punk is straight edge due to his father.
This is disappointing and frustrating. Nothing more.
