Nah. The IC title IMO is for people who are either up-and-coming (being groomed for the main title), or a reward for a mid-carder. UT is neither one of them, and it would be a big step down for the phenom.

He would of been a great IC champ before he became world champ. When he first entered the wwf, he should of became ic champ pretty early, after a few months, held it for awhile, then decided he wanted to go for the world title, and either dropped it or pulled a warrior and win the world title while still holding the IC title and drop it.

Maybe they can do something where Undertaker puts Jeff Hardy over by beating the crap out of him, then shaking Jeff's hand when Taker can't keep him down....oh wait, nevermind.

To compare the Hardcore Title in anyway to the IC title is laughable. The Hardcore Title was always kind of a "joke" title. It didn't really matter who held it. That's your opinion, I personally only watched WWE at the time for the 24/7 Hardcore Title.

Taker's a "squasher". We've already had a "squasher" as IC champ and it's anti-climactic. Taker fits the world title profile too well.
