I am not exactly what you'd call a mark for Shelton Benjamin. But his fall from grace has been pretty astounding. Just a couple of years ago, the guy was considered a future great. He had held the IC title a few times, was being praised as the greatest athlete in the WWE, and it seemed he was being prepped for a future main event run. But then came Mama, then a short lived racist angle, and now he is the pre-eminent jobber of RAW. My understanding is that he was initially jobbed out because some people backstage where not happy with his attitude. He was said to be cocky and smug, and more than little obnoxious to his elders and betters. The guy is still a fantastic athlete. I actually would have liked to see him sent to ECW where he could have great matches with guys like Punk. And I just wonder, will he ever be forgiven for his bad attitude and given another chance? Cuz at this point it seems WWE just want to let him ride out his contract and then wish him well. A shame and a waste, I think.

I don't recall these rumors. But I don't think it'd be all that true, or if it was true, I doubt that is why he has not had a big push.
Theres "bad attitude"/heat rumors for pretty much anyone you can think of.

I hear Mr. McMahon has major heat backstage and is this close to getting suspended.

Before I stopped watching, they had a golden opportunity to make Shelton a major player in 2004.
They gave him the IC title, but nothing really came of it. Like most of the champions on Raw not named Hunter that year, he was kind of neglected.

Golden Opportunity is an understatement, they built him up so damn well with those wins over HHH but then they did nothing with him. He could have been a World Champ by now.

I never heard that he had a bad attitude, though JR and others have made negative remarks about playing video games and goofing off backstage instead of attentively watching the show backstage.

I never saw him as World Champion. Not to say he couldn't of main-evented.
Great athlete, made the first MITB worth watching.

I think he's gonna take the path of a Jericho or Benoit. Despite being a solid wrestler, for whatever reason, he isn't pushed. If anything he'll be Dean Malenko where he's a solid hand to have around. God I hope people get this analogy.

I think he's a bit too laid back, at times. At least, that's what I heard from some of dirt sheetz. He gets some heat for playing video game backstage. But, even if his backstage attitude was fine, that still doesn't change the fact that the guy has very limited mic-skills and is found wanting in the charisma department. I think Shelton is the kinda guy that would really do well with a manager like Paul Heyman.

Like i keep saying.... They keep on signing his paychecks!!! That is something to be greatful for. You don't have to be like Bret Hart and be a huge mark for the top of the card. And from a fellow crapper that delievered a pizza to him, they said that Shelton tipped extremly well (I want to say the same amount for the pizza but not 100 percent.)
Sometimes I think you guys take wrestling way tooooooo seriously. Its a business. Shelton isn't going to be selling out arenas anyday soon. He puts on good matches. Tag scene has nothing to offer, another IC run... BIG WOOP been there done that... The best move for Shelton to get pushed is to ECW.

A Shelton/Punk match might be okay. I'll try it out in EWR and SVR08 to see.

cut him loose WWE, he was born for the X Division

He's still young, so it's too early to count him out.
He gets on TV a lot more than he did for a while, so that's a start.

Shelton and Punk had a match last year during the Christmas in Iraq show, not a bad match, but im sure they could bring the house down if they wanted/had the oppurtunity to.
And seriously, who wouldn't rather play video games then watch current WWE anyway?

I say the same thing every time a thread about Benjamin being misused pops up (weekly basis).
If three wins over Triple H himself, at the peak of his dominant run, a mini-program against Evolution and an IC title can't get you over with the crowd, you're done. And rightfully so.
