CM Punk vs *suspicious edited in silence* for the ECW championship!

Actually they slipped up and mentioned his name on the Nitro that's up on 24/7. They said his name once though and every other mention is scrubbed. Even the stills from the amazing match with Malenko at spring stampede. =o(

I still think back to the Benoit vs Booker T matches in WCW that were amazing. Then he did the same thing with Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, Booker T (again), and MVP in WWE. He would have given a great rub to CM Punk and gotten him over even more than he already is. I still find it sadly ironic that Eddie Guerrero died just before regaining the World Heavyweight Championship and Chris Benoit died just before becoming ECW Champion. It makes me nervous when I hear a spoiler about a talented wrestler getting to hold a strap. Its sad that two of the best ever in the business had to go out as they were about to win their second world championship.

I was looking forward to Punk/Benoit. But, you know, considering what happened, the matches we missed are the last thing about which I'm upset.

That's not a criticism of the OP. It's just how I feel.

After watching Punk/Morrison VII(I think it was 7) on Tuesday, I can't help but wonder how awesome it would've been if it was Benoit feuding with Punk this whole time rather than Morrison. Just think, the veteran ECW Champion Benoit continuously defeats CM Punk in thrilling matches only to have Punk finally pick up the victory and the rivalry continues. There would've been so many great matches these past five months. Ahh, smarks and marks alike would've loved this. It probably would've made ECW the a-show, at least for me.

Anyways, it would have been epic, seriously. I waited for thet match for years, and it was within my grasp and then it was gone.

Benoit is still my favorite worker. I just try to remember all the good he did for me and other people, and leave out his last days. Too much is involved in that, and I'd rather just remember him on a nice note.

See thing about Benoit is, yes he was a great wrestler who did more then most for the business. He was loved, still is. I do not disagree with this, but he did kill his family.

On that note why is it ok to make fun of the issue? Isn't crap like that prohibited? You realize your are mocking the unnecessary deaths of a woman and child right?

I find John Morrison's character, his bizarre mix of his old character and a wack-a-doo Jim Morrison, to be more entertaining than anything Benoit did from his reign as World Champ until his murdering rampage.

I actually agree. Benoit was run of the mill and had insanely repetitive and stale matches from 2005-2006. His MVP feud earlier this year was awesome and he was back to his old self (in ring wise, he always had a bland personality outside of that).

Then, just as things were getting awesome again....................he killed his family.
