The SDOUW DVD tells us that in 1996, Warrior had lost a lot of his fan base, and the magic just wasn't there. But listen to the reaction here www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqIY4ESpRTs&feature=relatedLouder reaction than CM Punk, Batista, Triple H, Michaels, even Jericho from last Monday night. Also, the interview is hilarious - The VOICES, I apparently spoke to Warrior, Goldust, Vince (UN-BE-LIEVABLE!). I also believe Warrior was the first to curse in a promo, months before Austin.

I remember hearing Savage curse in a promo in 88 at MSG talking about kicking Andre's ass.

I mean they popped for the Warrior in 96 but it's nowhere close as late 80s or early 90s

I remember ordering (or begging my mom to buy it) that PPV at WM where he fought Trips because I was excited as hell he was coming back, personally.
As far as cursing, I remember hearing it every so often before Austin 3:16.
Not televised or anything but I just remembered at a house show here when Sting told Steven Regal he was going to ''Give him a Springfield ass-whooping!''. Good times.

He was over, but I don't think they booked him to do too many exciting things during that brief time.

He was over, but I don't think they booked him to do too many exciting things during that brief time. That's hitting the nail on the head. Warrior/Goldust could have been a fantastic fued, instead we got a joke match, where Goldust refused to wrestle, due to 'knee injury'.

He was still over, but not as over as he was from 1988-1992. The fact that they put him with Goldust and Lawler didn't help matters either.
Saying that he wasn't over, if that's what the DVD said, is (as per usual with WWE produced material) revisionist history.

Saying that he wasn't over, if that's what the DVD said, is (as per usual with WWE produced material) revisionist history. Another nefarious thing that they did was digitally manipulate a 1996 house show advertisement to include Ultimate Warrior's name. The other house show advertisements they showed were from the early 1990s. They didn't show any real advertisements from 1996 that he was listed on. Vince also downplayed the death of Warrior's dad. Vince admits that Warrior's dad died in 1996, but says that Warrior shouldn't have missed shows because of it since they had been estranged for ten years. He's still the guy's dad, even if they weren't close for the last ten years of the guy's life. I'm not trying to take Warrior's side, but this part of the DVD seems too malicious, especially since they digitally manufactored images to try to criticise him.

Seemed like a pretty good reaction to me. I actually enjoyed this promo. Goldust made reference to The Warriors! What more could you want?

Also, Hogan got a big reaction with he won the title at WM IX. Get over it. I just shake my head when I read someone saying "the people hated it." Anything for that bias against non-mat or non-high flying wrestlers.

Warrior was over. In EVERY WWF stint.
They may rewrite history, many fans may now hate on him just because he's a nutcase in real-life [and I find that silly], but the FACT is that Ultimate Warrior was cheered no matter what and no matter where.
WWF dropped the ball during his first title reign, and [according to Vince], Warrior blew two more chances.
But he was indeed very over.

That was awesome, and the most coherant i've ever seen the warrior. Those two had really great chemistry together, its a shame they didn't have a proper feud.
