www.wwe.com/shows/smackdown/articles/4748330/hardyundergoessurgeryTAMPA, Fla. – SmackDown Superstar Matt Hardy underwent an emergency appendectomy at a Tampa area hospital tonight. Doctors expect the surgery to keep Hardy out of action anywhere from 1-3 months. An appendectomy by definition is the removal of the appendix from the lower right area of the abdomen. Oftentimes, if the surgery is not performed immediately, severe consequences can follow. Hardy’s emergency surgery comes less than a week after suffering a knee injury at the hands of his former partner, the United States Champion MVP. Did the attack by MVP help lead to the appendectomy that Hardy underwent tonight? Stay tuned to WWE.com for updates on Matt Hardy’s condition.

If they can keep the belt around MVP's waist going into WrestleMania XXIV, then that would be the perfect time to have their long-awaited rematch. The storyline would be perfect (It will have been going on for nine months) and the timing would be even better.

Damn. Now I'm starting to feel bad for the guy. The last few years have been rough on him, body wise. I mean, he had the really bad staph infection in his titty, then within like the last month he had a bunch of stitches in his head, the knee injury(is that real, or kayfabed?) and now the appendix stuff, along with probably dozens of stuff I've probably misses.

Uh, it's probably a legit condition. The stage was all set for Hardy to go after the US title.
I'm no doctor, but I'm pretty sure the knee isn't connected to the appendix.
I've never been a huge fan of the guy but it seems like he just can't catch a break. The MVP feud/team is the best angle he's been in since Lita/Edge (which made Edge look like a million bucks and made Hardy look like a chump), and this absence will probably kill a lot of his heat.

Yeah they shouldn't have reported his condition on WWE.com, they could've had MVP play up removing Matt and thus build up his return...now i'm not so sure.

"He's MVP, half man, half amazing. His kicks are so strong that they can cause your appendix to blow. That will never happen to a superior man like MVP." Or something like that.

If only this was a work. I could easily picture MVP dominating in the Rumble. He's the only guy in the ring at some point, when Hardy makes a surprise return and eliminates him.

Well, I guess it's a good thing that they lost the tag titles last week then.

It's sad that Hardy is hurt, but it works in perfectly with the storyline and I loved that Royal Rumble idea, how great would that be. The MVP/Matt Hardy fued is easily the best fued the WWE has had in years.

Damn.
Get well soon Matt Hardy, I've had an acute appendicitus and unless treated quickly It's pretty much an internal mess and possible death!(septicemia)
It's one of those parts of your body that is of no use except to go bad - astronauts and polar explorers have had them removed for obvious reasons.
The 1-3 months is realistic, I had trouble walking for the first week after the operation and wasn't back to work until a couple of weeks after that. 1 month for proper healing and the rest to see how easy to get back into the swing of things
Leaves a nice scar but it sure well itches for a couple of days.

My guess is he knew he needed the surgery weeks ago so they decided to co-write it out with his legs being injured.
