How many wrestlers are there?
The ones I thought of right off the bat are Trish Stratus and Stacy Keibler, then thought about Randy Savage -- but is he still taking bookings?
To make this post more succinct, I'm talking about wrestlers who retired on their own accord, NOT because there's no booker who would ever hire them.

Wouldn't Warrior classify under this? Unless you count his belief system as some sort of mental injury.

The Rock definately comes to mind. Big Show retired on his own, as did Dean Malenko.

Ah, but I said STAYED retired. I can see The Rock or Big Show returning.

The Rock definately comes to mind. Big Show retired on his own, as did Dean Malenko. Dean was pretty banged up though. Maybe not one major injury, but he had some problems. Big Show also had physical problems too. |

Nah, Magnum was a huge example for a forced retirement due to injury. Lance Storm pretty much fits. |

His injuries didn't come in the ring, but he didn't exactly retire by choice- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnum_T.A. The car wreck ended what coulda been an even better career, but on the positive side he did an interview with PWI a few months ago, and he's getting around with no trouble, living with his wife and kids and running a cellphone tower company. |

How about Molly? She requested her release after a false alarm health scare, hasn't wrestled a match since, and seems intent on having things stay that way.

I think we've seen the last of Bill Goldberg as a wrestler and there's little doubt he could get bookings if he desired them.

Well are we talking about no return to full or semi full time schedule or no one time appearances? Because I think most wrestlers that retire not due to major injury come back once in a while for tribute shows or just for the hell of it.

Well are we talking about no return to full or semi full time schedule or no one time appearances? Because I think most wrestlers that retire not due to major injury come back once in a while for tribute shows or just for the hell of it. To clarify, tribute shows and for the hell of it are okay. As in, I can see Trish coming back to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, or making a special appearance on Raw, like The Rock. And hey, they can even interfere in a match for the hell of it... but just for a special show or tribute. With Steve Austin, I can see him getting in the ring to wrestle again. Ted DiBiase was also somebody I was thinking of, but I think he retired due partly (if not fully) to injury. It also may be his religious beliefs keeping him from wrestling. |

Rock did say he was done and his job now doesn't really make wrestling that attractive of an alternative.
Was Lita's due to injury? I knew she got injured, but was it affecting her when she retired?
