A guy with drug problems, a stressful job, head injuries, a volatile marriage and a history of bottling up his emotions snaps and kills two people? I'm almost surprised Benoit didn't flip out sooner. When you look at the bigger picture, it's not that much of a surprise. we only know this much about benoit now after everything. Mabey theres other guys in the company going through things almost twice as hard. Although im not saying that those factors didnt play a role in what happened, im just saying RVD proabaly only knew the benoit everyone else knew. I think before we knew all about Benoit it was a shock. But after all the facts came out...it did make a lot of sense. The guy had a ton of problems, is it that hard to believe he just snapped? I also remember there was this profile of a typical family annhilator going around after it happened: Benoit fit all the criteria. To be honest, even looking at the tribute show you could maybe see some stuff emerging: the way his kids were always wearing suits, shaking hands, knew about locker room etiquette, like they were trained robots. And then there was that story about the rookie (Daivari)who disrespected HBK, HBK wasn't bothered about it, but Benoit was furious, and forced the guy to do 1000 squats to the point he was peeing blood. Now that we knew everything, Benoit doing what he did wasn't that far fetched: he had the personality traits, the controlling side and psychotic tendencies. Certainly, no reason to claim it had to be a demon or something.

RVD offered a theory on the stabbing of Bruiser Brody too. He believes a chupacabra may have done it. I knew it! Seriously, I'd love to see a crime drama series starring RVD as a CSI type who ignores all evidence in favour of his own wacky theories.

The thing RVD is saying is that those things are JUST AS BELIEVABE AS BELIEVING THAT CHRIS BENOIT DID IT HIMSELF. We won't know where he's coming from if we didn't know Benoit. A guy with drug problems, a stressful job, head injuries, a volatile marriage and a history of bottling up his emotions snaps and kills two people? I'm almost surprised Benoit didn't flip out sooner. When you look at the bigger picture, it's not that much of a surprise. It's not much of a surprize to the people who have come to know chris benoit through sensationalistic media tactics and attention drawn to what he did after the fact. Drug problems + stressfull job + head injuries + marraige problems + bottled up emotions = speculation, speculation, speculation, speculation, and speculation. That's the chris benoit that everyone knows now. Just one of those things is enough to convince a regulor person that benoit is capable of doing it. News comes out, benoit murders family, the media says, "well, he had marraige problems", people say "ah, so that's it". However, people who knew benoit got cold at night, who've seen him talk like a baby to his kids, who've seen benoit cry, seen him show guts, knew how he handled stress, knew how benoit reacted to alcohol, people who knew benoit, if they have a different opinion than us, who are we to say that our opinion has as much merit as theirs just because it's an opinion? I know that If my friend did that, and someone I didn't know told me that their opinion of the situation is equal to mine, I wouldn't think so.

I don't think that's what people realise: when this news came out there were close friends of him who weren't surprised at all.

Sounds like RVD's been enjoying his pot now that he's out of the WWE.
I can understand though why Benoit's friends think stuff like that. I can't even imagine what it's like for a long-time friend to do something like Chris Benoit did. They were his friends and they have to deal with it as best they can.
Although RVD's idea is just silly.

I think Rob just knew Benoit as being this good person, and still can't fathom him doing such acts. It's not really funny at all, it's just a man who sees his friend do something horrible, and has a hard time believing it because of who he was.

I've had some friends do some crazy things before. Not murdering their family crazy, but pretty strange.
At absolutely NO point in my life have I ever thought, "Hmm, that's out of character. They must be POSSESSED BY A DEMON"

Seriously, I'd love to see a crime drama series starring RVD as a CSI type who ignores all evidence in favour of his own wacky theories. CSI: Battle Creek, Michigan Grisham - Thankyou for coming Detective Van Dam and Detective Sabu RVD - No problem, dude. Sabu - (jumps into a table, for no reason at all) Grisham -..........anyway, from what evidence we've gathereed. It appears that the victim was shot 5 times in the back through that window over there. RVD - Bummer. Grisham - Yes, anyway, we also found some DNA evidence of at least 4 different people at the scene. Yet we can't figure out who it was, which is where you come in Rob. RVD - ....................................wha? Grisham - I said what do you think happened Rob? RVD ....................ummm.........................uuuummmmmmm...............uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhh...............wha? Grisham - WHO DID YOU THINK DID IT!?!? RVD - Ok man, chill. ok. Umm......well, last night, me and my partner over there Sabu. We were "flying high" heh heh heh. And anyway, we was watching this documentary, about this vampire.....that was Black. Grisham - .........Blackula? RVD - How'd you know man? Anyway then this morning, and then we got hungry........REEEEALY hungry. And all i had was cereal. And on the cereal box, there was another vampire. And he was made of chocolate. Grisham - What's the point of this story? RVD - Well, i believe, what with all of these sightings of vampires. That maybe. MAYBE. Vampires killed the victim..... Grisham - ...........Vampires? RVD - ................and maybe a Werewolf? Grisham - That is, by far, the stupidest thing i've ever heard. RVD - ummm........ummmm...........FONZY!!! Grisham - What? (Bill Alfonso comes from out of the bushes, blows a whistle, throws a steal folding chair at Grisham which he catches. And then Rob kicks the chair into Grishams face.) RVD - Quick Fonzy! Bring the van around! END?

It's possible that a demon was in him, but then again, dementia.

See, I don't know. I can understand why people are calling Rob a goofy guy for his beliefs or whatever, but the fact is that he WAS around the guy more so than any of us, and like someone else pointed out, it may just be a way for him to cope with the actions of a long-time friend whom he thought was incapable of such things. Honestly I don't remember too many other wrestlers (who were really, really close to Chris) saying they expected something like that to happen, or that it did not surprise them. Generally, people like Bret, Jericho and Malenko came across as very shocked.
I don't think it is completely absurd for him to say what he said, being that mostly everyone I know believes in some higher power or has a spiritual side to them in some way. I just think when you have a guy like Rob....or Sandman, their credibility gets thrown out of the window way too quickly by some folks just because they have a tendency to partake in "teh evil weeds" or "teh booze!!!!111" It's not like that absolutely has to impact every part of their judgment.

Don't forget RVD has a damaged brain on some level due to heavily using pot. Yeah? Well, I would think his brain would be in more bad shape from some of the sick bumps and the chairshots he's taken over the years, than weed. www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbKqO-VxXQo Look at 00:57. Stuff like this can't help.

Actually, pot slowly over time damages the brains neural pathways, stuff like Axions, etc.
But yes, stiff shots to the head can only make it worse lol

It was funny. In the interview, PS asked him if it was bad timing to get caught smoking weed, so soon after being given the title.
RVD basically implied that no, it was great timing, because it raised the profile of why weed use needed to be legalised.
So there you go. Titles mean nothing to Rob Van Dam: SOCIAL LOBBYIST!!!!!
