Ex muscled up Jock who got into wrestling for the money, limited, short matches, memorable entrance. One impressive run followed by a couple not so impressive runs. Given the number one spot in his respective company but dropped the ball. Both were built to less than impressive matches with Hulk Hogan.
Your thoughts?
I know this thread will probably go down as a failure but I thought I'd try to bring up something new for discussion.

Disagree as I don't see how Goldberg dropped the ball in anything. I know he's not a favorite amongst smarks, but the guy did very well for himself in a short time.

I think there are a lot of similarities in the two, the only difference being Goldberg pretty much got screwed by booking instead of dropping the ball.
It's a sound theory though IMO.

Personally, I think Goldberg was the Goldberg of the Attitude Era.

Warrior screwed Warrior.
Booking screwed Goldberg.

Warrior screwed Warrior. Booking screwed Goldberg. The problem is that Goldberg had let the success go to his head.

Warrior screwed Warrior. Booking screwed Goldberg. The problem is that Goldberg had let the success go to his head. One could say Warrior did as well as he would no-show and try to hold up promoters for more money than he agreed to.

The heel turn and WCW 2000 screwed Goldberg. He had a big ego, but Warrior's was (and is) still bigger.

I'll also throw my support beinhd the "booking screwed goldberg" (though, at the beginning, he was booked very well) theory.
Goldberg was better in ring than Warrior though

Goldberg could actually wrestle, he just didn't have enough training, and later, when everything went to his head, he thought that he didn't need anymore training.

Goldberg could wrestle. You seen the match when Regal tried to shoot on him? They actually had one HELL of a match!

I didn't think Goldberg's ego was TOO out of line considering how big he was in WCW. Dude was basically the face of their company.
Yeah, he got kind of full of himself, but not to the absurd degree that Warrior's been full of himself.

For example, he didn't make ridiculous requests that injured other wrestlers, and didn't demand more money seconds before going out for a PPV.

Goldberg as the new Warrior is a unique theory, but i'm not totally on board. Warrior started to think he was a superhero. Goldberg just thought he should be booked like a superhero.

It's not like Goldberg wasn't totally irrational in that way of thinking. He's not 5'10 and 185 pounds, so it's not like he needed to be Mr.Technical out there.

I don't think Goldberg was like the Warrior at all. Goldberg would have become an even bigger star in WCW than he already was if he didn't get booked like a goof towards the end. I've seen the Kevin Nash shoot where he says that he (Nash) was booked to end Goldberg's streak because the fans were gradually turning on Goldberg. That may be true, and I'll admit that it was time to freshen up Goldberg's character at that point. The problem is, after Goldberg's initial push they never were able to come up with a storyline or angle for him that properly played off of the momentum that he had accumulated over the prior years.

I support the theory.
But Warrior's almost unbeatable character was better IMO because it was 1989...
When Goldberg came around, kayfabe was already on its deathbed, so such a dominant monster looked a bit out of time, even though Goldberg played the role convincingly.
