Along the lines of Jungle Boy warranting a suspension, Bret Hart wrote that Vince told the entire locker room before Wrestlemania 3 “Anyone that leaves before the main event, just keep walking” This is the biggest show in company history, one of the biggest in wrestling history. It is neither the time or place for anyone to act up in a childish manner and Jungle Boy’s comment (while not anywhere near the Punk shenanigans in terms of severity) does merit a “Hey, I hope that meant a lot to you. Enjoy your seat in the bench for a few weeks.”

“Ah, I see! When I want to get fired, I have to attack Tony and not just another wrestler! Thank you for leading the way, CM Punk!”

Remember that Regal has been open about facing some serious health issues in the last couple years so Punk “getting in his face” is even shittier than it appears at first glance.

Hogan's n.W.o at Bash at the Beach 1996 promo has gotta be up there and Piper's Old School's cool promo to Jericho in 2009 is one of my picks. I thought about the Bash at the Beach promo, and it’s absolutely great, but aside from “the fans can stick it,” I can’t remember many of the specifics. And as over as Hollywood Hogan and the nWo was, when I think of Hogan’s peak, I think of that initial WWF run, and nothing jumps out at me from that. And that’s not a bad thing, he was phenomenal in the build to Wrestlemania III and the controversial loss to Andre on NBC. He did great work against Savage, Warrior, etc. That promo from Piper was great, and there are many other examples. But that one iconic, legendary promo is such a unique thing. It’s hard to place with Flair, Jake Roberts, Jim Cornette, Bobby Heenan, etc. Hogan’s promo turning down DiBiase’s offer to buy the belt would be my pick. Really put over how much the belt meant to him when he flipped the switch from contemplating taking the offer to “HELLLLLLL!!!!! NNNNNOOOOOO!!!!!!”

I do think one day they'll fall into the "let's do a heel authority figure story I guess?" trap. I just hope it's at least different from any we've seen. Even if they did, Jarrett or Christian would be much better suited for such a role.

The Regal story (you can get a link in the comments) would seem to be another large knock against Punk ever going back to WWE.

I guess our “They’ve Ruined Jay White After 2 Weeks” thread was premature.

I present to you all, Cheez Whiz on a lasagna. With that, I apologize, because oh my merciful f***, the humanity! That genuinely looks like a meal a cannibal would serve to an unsuspecting guest.

When the screwjob happened (a far more nuanced situation and with a deep pocketed WCW hiring anyone with a pulse) I think Brian Adams quit in solidarity and Foley skipped a couple of weeks of TV. So not huge numbers for something so controversial. Rick Rude jumped ship immediately but I think he was working on an appearance deal, so he could leave whenever he wanted. According to Bret, Rude gave Bischoff an eyewitness account of the Bret/Vince locker room scrum which I’m sure netted him a nice signing bonus as well.

Also, you can’t be the “Mr” of your family when you’re a trust-fund baby and your dad’s still around.

I think Christian was sort of in the Sting camp; no one really thought ill of him, it was just assumed that he was done. And now he has us fuming at the mere sight of a turtleneck sweater.

As an on-screen character, Tony is FAR closer to Linda than Vince.

Also, the real key to the Philly cheesesteak has nothing to do with the cheese. It’s the Amoroso’s roll.

My favorite part about the “Ooooh The Elite struck again!! Oooohh!!!” crowd is they depict the Elite as childish morons (“empty-headed dumb f***s”, if you will) that are also capable of setting elaborate political traps that are 5 steps ahead of their foes.
It’s like calling someone a weakling and then blaming them for gorilla-pressing you through a window.

I do wonder if Punk's always been as violent as he's been the past year or if something's changed on that front. That TV house show story sounds like it's something he's had going on for a long time. He has a history, at least, of trying to chastise other wrestlers for harmless shit, like him trying to chew out Kevin Steen in front of the ROH locker room for wrestling in a t-shirt, which is a bit rich given Punk's baggy shorts he wrestled in for years that were all pretty amateurish looking. One of my deliciously petty dreams is that KO sent Punk the t-shirt and shorts he was wearing when he main-evented Wrestlemania against Stone Cold.
