Yes, and there's a strong arguement that it's the greatest collection of talent on one roster of all time. I think that'd be March 2002 WWF. The AEW current roster is an all-timer though.

Nana is great for Swerve because it adds a fresh level of additional sadism to the act that makes complete sense. Swerve keeping someone around him who will childishly mock his opponents so he doesn't have to is the exact type of extra salt-in-the-wound a character like his would have. Plus, as said earlier on this page, kayfabe wise Nana is incredibly wealthy so it fits the plan and personas that Swerve would affiliate himself with.
Plus, seeing Swerve tell Nana not to dance before the contract signing was 1) great for heel heat 2) shows he's firmly the one in power in the dynamic and 3) allows a clear tell to the audience when the next gear of a feud is going to kick in.
If you think it doesn't add to the act, I think you may be misunderstanding the act. They're not a crime family. They're not a dynasty. They're an affiliation of entrepreneurs who take a brutally sadistic approach to their business, which happens to be professional athletics.

Between this and his Dudesy appearance, I'd dig Comedy Karrion. Funny dude.

I don't think it's a "gotten over" as much as "moved past."
AEW has had two fantastic shows since Punk was fired. Punk's been largely silent. Nick Hausman is a sad weiner people tune out.

When was the last time a major American company was particularly petty about a talent that left? I feel like it's generally been handled pretty well lately but I feel like I'm forgetting something. Matt Hardy inexplicably going out to defend Edge (who wasn't there) and getting squashed by Randy Orton.

Wish I could, but living situation and amount of general crap I need to do cuts down my movie viewing time to just one a week. Looking forward to your list, though. Hey gang, now that Wrestledream's over, I'm about to watch my first of 31 straight days of horror movies. Anyone else doing the one horror movie a day (any subgenre) challenge/tradition? I'm beginning with the 1988 slasher "Cutting Class." That the one with Brad Pitt? Thanks! And yeah, Brad Pitt along with Jill Scholen and Martin Mull. Written by the creator of 'Salute Your Shorts' and directed by the writer/ghost-director of Exorcist II. One of those teen slashers that's so absolutely on-the-nose that it gets mislabeled as a satire. Jill was great in it, as was the redhead woman from 'Slither,' but I wouldn't recommend it unless you're a Scholen completist. Tomorrow is 'Doctor Butcher MD,' then planning for 'The Stepfather' on Tuesday, the 1990 'Night of the Living Dead' on Wednesday and then Thursday - while on a flight - 'I Eat Your Skin.' Then I'm in Vegas for the drive-in convention and seeing 'The Mutilator II' premiere on Friday, a mystery Roger Corman film on Saturday and the 40th anniversary of 'Sleepaway Camp' with the franchise being played back-to-back dusk til dawn. Then Monday, for the flight back, I'm taking in 'The Hideous Sun Demon.' Card subject to change. Once I'm home I've arranged a stack of films to choose from based on my whim of the day.

I wore an LWO shirt to a WWE show once as well. It's a comfortable shirt.

I've heard this stated several times, and I dont get it. I usually just watch streaming video or surf tv tropes or FAN (cheap pop) during most commercials on wrestling shows, but I have seen old eps of wrestling shows that keep the commercials in, and while there are a lot of ads for local businesses, I also saw ads for major Hollywood movies, video games, other shows on the same channel, fast food restaurants, food companies, even stuff like Pep Boys and Western Union, all pretty much profitable stuff. Granted, I dont see ads for stuff like Investment firms or fancy restaurants, but those rarely even advertise on shows that are more popular. You're missing a big factor on how cable advertising works. There's Do Not Advertise lists where products can lists shows that they don't want their product appearing during the commercial breaks for. Wrestling had been frequently on there, especially in the mid-90s and the 2010s.

Those bags of shit Zeb and Jack Swagger referencing Sami Zayn's "time under a mask" during their NXT feud.
Miz calling Seth Rollins and Finn Balor by their indie and Japan names during their Mania feud.
JBL's commentary at the 2016 Rumble saying AJ Styles was "A Former IWGP champion, just like Brock Lesnar."
Going back to the WWF days: Curt Hennig referencing USWA in his 1996 Rumble commentary always stood out to me.
During the special Christmas episodes of Raw when Jerry Lawler would work some way into referring to Kane as a "Christmas Creature," or on Halloween episodes he'd slide in a "ghostbusters/wimpbusters" reference to his anti-Jimmy Hart USWA "Wimpbusters" music video.

He's going to get severely injured recording himself trying to fire a 50 cal from the hip without any ear protectoors while yelling 'I'm not owned!' with tears in his eyes. And that'll be "what it sounds like when WOOOOOOORLDS COLLIDE! ARE YOU READY TO GO? CAUSE I'M READY TO GO! WAT'CHA GONNA DO BABY?! BABY?!"

I hear the rest of that Observer article is a doozy in terms of Dave being shitty about women and really glossing over Riddle's history of abuse. Can anyone confirm?
