I say a tie. Between Ric Flair and Owen Hart.
Ric Flair is/was a decent worker. But the whole "16 time champ" shit is rediculous. He had those belts because he kissed ass, cried like a girl, and had his friends booking him to win these belts. Flair may have been a 3 or 4 time champ without political stroke. But with it, the man gets 16.
Kurt Coba....I mean, Owen Hart, was never going to be a world champ. ACCEPT IT. He was a solid mid card worker who held some mid card titles. If anything, he would have went to WCW with Bret and squandered for the US Belt. Or TV title. The fact that he died tragically gives him an auroa that everyone thinks he was the next world champ. Owen Hart was a good worker, but vastly over rated.
Who are your over rated wrestlers?!

I disagree about Owen, I always thought he was a great worker and it shows. The most overrated guy I can think of is Lex Luger. What was the big deal? I mean at least Hogan could cut a decent promo.

Switch around a few numbers, supplant the word "wife" in place of "friends" & you could Triple H's name in place of Flair.

Maybe Flair was consistently booked at the top, because he consistently sold out venues on his name alone, every where he went? With the recent rash of hate towards Flair, from the younger fans I would say he might even be under-rated.

It's well documented that MOST of Flair's title reigns were bullshit politics. Kids go to see John Cena and sell out arenas, does that make Cena great? No, he's a champion. People flock like flies to shit for champions, with either love or hate. Flair is a good worker, good on the mic, and whatnot, but alot of his accomplishments would have never happened if he wasn't kissing ass and playing politics.

if we're talking overrated as not a backhanded way of saying sucks i agree with Owen. he was certainly a damn good worker, but i don't believe he ever was main event material. he maybe would have gotten an honor reign like Foley or He-who-should-never-be-named, but that's it. Owen was never going to be the main guy in WWE like some people say.
I'd have to say...i guess i'll go to the indys here and say AJ Styles. I never quite got why he was made out to be the main guy TNa should build around a few years ago. I mean, he has talent but i don't think he's any better than Sabin or Shelley or the other X-division guys.

Who cares if Owen was never World champ, either was Liger. Both men never held the World title but helped revolutionized Junior Heavyweight wrestling & are both legends in Pro Wrestling. Being World champ or even being main event does not make one great.

So many of the champions that are called 'The Greatest Of All Time' seem the most commonly chosen for the 'Most Overrated'. It's the same with music (The Beatles), food, sport. Anything popular is given this tag. Case in point being the recent 'Overrated list' on these very forums.
Examples of names that could be used, but shouldn't:
Bret Hart Sting The Undertaker Mick Foley Hogan Bruno Sammartino Bob Backlund Ric Flair The Rock

And I can think of a lot more guys who were influencial in high flying then Owen was. Liger yes, of course, but come on, Lynn, 123 Kid, Sabu, Brian Pillman were all doing it before Owen was in that stupid tag team with KoKo B Ware.

Reguardless, there's nothing anyone can tell me that would differ my decision on Owen. Yeah he was good in the ring, but like I said, he's so over rated it's rediculous.

Bob Backlund, maybe, but not his mic work. And if we are referring to heel Owen Hart, I disagree with the assertion that he wasn't world title material.

Dynamite was never the World champ but he is still recognized by many as the best wrestler of all time. Owen is definitely not on his level but he's in the same boat as Dynamite, he's a legend because of his style & great matches.

Stone Cold, at least IMO. Had a generic look, stupid catchphrases, and once he really started getting popular, he really started phoning in. Then he got hurt.

If he stayed alive, would he be a World Champ? Maybe that's my biggest beef. Everyone bitches and says he woulda been a world champ, and I just never saw that.

I mean, I dobut many of us were thinking last winter that Jonny Nitro would be a world champ by this summer. He just would have needed one feud or angle to get him really over, just like anyone.

If he did live & stayed in wrestling, I think maybe he could have been. Not in the 90s of the attitude era but maybe he would of get a run like JBL did after the brand splits on the SmackDown! brand if he was still going.

Belts do not make you a good wrestler, having good matches makes you a good wrestler. Owen had good matches therefore he was a good wrestler. Kurt Coba....I mean, Owen Hart Also, seriously not cool

Shawn Michaels. He was a decent mid-card tag team wrestler. The Rockers were nothing special.
He got a push because of a "personal" relationship with Vince. He and his fellow overrated buddies (Nash, HHH, Waltman and Hall) represent everything I hate about the business: People getting pushes because of who they're friends with in back.
When I see guys on the message boards with names HBK this or that, talking about how Jeff Jarrett never should have been a world champion or a main eventer, I laugh every time.
