Batman
Simply because he brought friggin' Superman to his knees. And then there's the comic book story where he beats the ever-lovin' crap out of the entire Justice League - single-handedly. Yup, Flash, J'onn, Green Lantern, Hawkman, Aquaman, Wonder Woman...all of them, and near enough at the same time, because they thought he had turned criminal and tried to apprehend him.
I don't think Spidey could do that to his contemporaries.

Yes, but he needs more variety than all of them being are doctor or scientist at one point in their lives. Batman fights flat out crazies from all walks of life. Scorpion, Kangaroo, Kraven, Venom, Carnage, Shocker, Rhino, Hobgoblin, Mysterio...yeah all doctors or scientists. Or none are. If the kids pick Bats as their favorite, that is fine and well. If they think he beats Spidey in a fight, they are insane. Have the comics taught you nothing? Batman can win any fight, given time to prepare.

Batman.
His darker side and how close he comes to the edge of his personal demons persona makes me happy.

I asked him what he was doing, and he said watching the New England John Cena's win another football game.

I'm going to go with Batman. If I was going to aspire to be either of them that's who I'd rather be.

Holy Crap! What a Final! It was a tough choice trying to figure out who to vote for and I'm making my selection without reading the other replies as I'm trying to be original with my selection. I'm going to vote for Batman Why I'm voting for this guy is because his stories entertain me better. Something about being a normal man who deals both with super-super villians on superman's level and dealing with petty burglars while maintaining his rich lifestyle just interests me. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Spider-Man as well but I feel that Batman has the overall better stories without tying into 30 different titles.

Hmmm, this is a tough one since I like them both. I'll think I'll give the nod to Spiderman.
Atleast this wasn't another "Hey, who would win, Superman or Batman?!?!?!?!?" It seems like that is asked all the time by somebody.

Batman, hands down.
He'd hand Spidey his ass and send him home in a Spidersilk handbag.

The God Damn Batman, because he: 1. Is completely badass, 2. has dead parents to avenge, 3. has better villains.

I don't think Spidey could do that to his contemporaries. He has done it to the X-men. Not quite the same. Then again, every DC hero has a huge weakness, Marvel's really don't. They have also taught me Spider-man can do they exact same thing. In fact that was pretty much his calling card.
