Mega Man, unfortunately. Sonic can work as a 3-D game, but Mega Man just isn't the same if it isn't 2-D.

Mega Man could still pull it off. Sonic's name has been dragged through the mud so hard over the last decade that the Blue Blur has become a joke.

If I had to pick, I'd say Mega Man. I'm more cynical about it making a comeback, but at least I still have the classics.
I still think Sonic has potential to break out in the next gen. Call me an optimist, I guess.

Anything is salvageable see Resident Evil 4. But I'm voting Megaman since he is not in Smash Bros.

Ya know what might be interesting, if wacky, to see? A 3D Mega-man fighting game consisting of all or most of the robots from the old games. Who wouldn't wanna be Cutman vs. Elecman or some such. Sure they'd have to change the weaknesses thing, but they could still make it to where certain characters worked better against others.. change their moves up etc.
I'd play it.

I could've sworn they released something like that in Japan, except you couldn't play as the bosses. Hopefully someone else knows more about it and can explain it. Actually, that was a 2-D game I believe, not 3-D.

The 3-D Sonics have godawful reviews, and the fact that even the ports aren't that good anymore (Sonic Genesis: the GBA Version) made me pick Sonic.
I don't think any series has taken an uglier hit in the 3-D transition than Sonic has (and yes, that includes the rubbish 3-D Castlevanias). Megs may be resurrected as a 2-D game yet by Capcom (look at what they're doing with Street Fighter), but unless Sega seriously considers making Sonic 2-D again, he wins the prize.

Actually, that was a 2-D game I believe, not 3-D. That was Rockman: the Power Battles, I believe. It was basically an arcade-style game where you could play as Megs, Protoman, Bass, and Duo. It played similar to conventional Megaman games but consisted only of "boss fights".

The Sonic Adventure games for the Dreamcast got very good reviews, especially the second one. Both the latest Sonic game and Shadow the Hedgehog got lousy ones, though. Sonic is more dependent on fast-paced 2-D gameplay than any other series. You could have a 3-D effect with polygonal graphics, but the gameplay should still be side-scroller. The whole 3-D Fetch Quest model really doesn't work for Sonic.

The Sonic franchise has been dead to me ever since they released that horrid Sonic 3d game on the Genesis.

They're always gonna keep throwing Sonic games out there, eventually they'll strike lucky.
Mega-Man...not so much.

Alright, why isn't there an "others" option? There are other, much more dead and worse off series than these two.
