I don't think I hate Rap music that much (even though it's not my thing), I just hate how utterly petty it can be. I know most genres are, but Rap in particular. When you got someone throwing a hissy fit and making a "diss" because a comedy artist parodied them, than that's some laughable stuff. Thats another reason I hate rap, just the entire culture that surrounds it. Even people I like are guilty of it. I love ICP but I could only roll my eyes and sigh when Violent J crapped himself over Gene Simmons "stealing their gimmick" for KISS's "Psycho Circus" stuff. I know, J, you're the only one who ever thought up the concept of a dark circus/carnival. Its ok. Hush now. ::waits for 2839 "lolz he likkes teh icp so his opinions dont kount" posts to follow::

I can't stand them myself, never was able to...but everyone is well within their rights to like whoever and for whatever reason, and I'm not gonna judge. I have no reason to...plenty judge me on my music taste so yeah.

Tell ya what. I hate rap. Period. And every time I say that I get people flaming me, what have you...so I'll make ya'll a deal. Tell me some rappers who's songs don't include any of the following, and I will listen to it and tell you what I think: Drug use/glorification, bragging about how much money/rims/bitches you have, f*** whitey, or smacking my bitches. Holy way to miss my entire post with like 10 rappers posted Batman... And for people who proclaim one genre of music is better than the other are ignorant in my opinion....good music is good music in any genre of music...there is just as much bad rock music as there is bad rap music...

Tell me a rock song that doesnt talk about hating the government, women, something horrible in your past, and/or death and I'll find you a rap song meeting that criteria.

I haven't liked any rap artists since RunDMC to Public Enemy. Cept for Mos Def. and that guy who did the "one mic" song...that was a kick ass tune.

also why am I the only one on these boards that remembers tonedeff? archetype didn't come out that long ago right?! RIGHT?!?! ok so it's out of print and no one has a copy of it around, it still got a good amount of internet love. I also wonder why dude hasn't gotten into cunninlynguists yet... kinda seems up his ally. speaking of cunninlynguists, here's a video they made about nas's new album (somewhat explicit, but if you know nas's new album it shouldn't be that much of a surprise) www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mjfc8AuVTys

Hey guys, lets stop feeding the trolls around here. They are obviously saying stupid things to get a rise out of you.
You know whose Rap CD I REALLY enjoyed? It's a guilty pleasure, but, John Cena's rap CD has got to be one of the funnest CD's I've ever heard. Seriously. The beats are good, the music is catchy, and the lyrics are fun. Just another day in my life probably is my favorite song on that CD. Really good.
I'd also like to throw some love towards L'il Kim. She's got some hot beats. I'll never forget a quote I heard from her after the success of Notorious KIM, when she said "I'll never have to sleep with another record producer again." On her thoughts of the Album. .. . Plus I'd totally like to tap that ass like some kind of thundering god(s).

A guy in my noisecore band is a funny rapper. He raps about MKII and has a rhyme that ends with the TOASTY sound.

Nobody's got love for MIA? She's probably the most unique rap artist out there right now, at least as far as anything mainstream. She went to Sri Lanka to make her last record so she could use some of their traditional percussion for her beats.

I just can't listen to rap. It's that simple... you can toss all the lyrics and beats at me you want, it just lacks the punch of metal for me.
With that said, though, I have a lot of respect for the genre in itself. I see a lot of similarities in rap and metal. They're both genres that rise out of a need for something different, they prefer to exist outside of the mainstream, it's easy to start up a group for yourself, regardless of what some say... it takes a lot of talent to do each, and the groups that hit the mainstream are basically parodies of the genre that embarrass true fans.
I have listened to enough rap, both mainstream and underground, to know exactly why I can't listen to it. However, that's not to say it's bad. I just don't hear the same thing rap fans do.... chances are, the same people who don't understand why I can't enjoy rap on any musical level are the ones who listen to Emperor and hear nothing but random screams, symphonics, and what sounds like someone banging a cat against a screen door. Whereas, I hear an amazing band.
I guess the main thing I sympathize with rap fans on, as I mentioned. While the uninformed look at System Of A Down, Slipknot, and Disturbed as what defines metal. The same people on the other side hear Soulja Boy and think, "Well, it's on the radio.. this MUST be an accurate representation of the genre."
** Beats chest, then holds up horns ** I feel ya, bro.... I feel ya. ** Pours out a 40 on a curb, one for me... one for my homie who couldn't be here.... Satan **
