Are You Gonna Go My Way?
I don't get it. At all. It's kind of a small horse, I mean what am I missing? Am I crazy?

Rocky and Rocky Balboa came to my mind It defends on your definition of win. In Rocky, all he said he wanted to do was "go the distance to prove that he wasnt just a bum from the neighborhood". He did that. In Balboa, he was trying to exercise "the beast" inside. Which he did. He didnt win the matches per se, but he did achieve his goals

I'd say The Departed aswell. I mean it was shocking but left you feeling really pissed off that the character you cared about all through out the film gets wasted in one shot. I haven't gasped out loud at a movie as I did at that scene. Though do the bad guys really win? I thought Dignam (Wahlberg) was one of the good guys.

The Matrix? Sure, they win, but Neo, Trinity, and a bunch of others die.

The "I slept too long" alternate ending to Army of Darkness, which I really don't like when compared to the other ending. Forget that "not as good as the other", we could have a sequel from that ending.

Probably my very first movie-related "WTF?!" was the ending to "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow". EVERY Disney movie i'd seen up to that one had the good guy winning, and it was like seeing Hogan turn heel when Ichabod got off'd at the end and the bad guy (whos name escapes me) gets the girl. That was always kind of ambiguous to me though. Ichabod only seemed interested in Katarina because of her money, while Brom, while a bully did seem to actually like her. Thats how I remember it anyway, its been a while.

300. Look, I don't care that the Persians were eventually bested by the Great abs people, what matters is that 299 of the heroes died.
Dr. Zhivago. Which is sort of like Star Wars, but Luke is more of a whiney wuss, Grand Muff Tarkin tells him about Anikan and Padme, and Emperor survives for a another 40 years when Nute Gunray allies with the Chiss fleet.

Any horror movie where it shows the main hero(es) basically smurfed. That encompasses a lot, LOL! I'd say a GREAT example of this would be Carpenter's THE THING. THIS. Also, yeah, Dignam was pretty much one of the good guys. A total DICK, but on the side of the angels. And him WAXING Damon pretty much puts the "good guys" in the Win department.

Would I be wrong in counting DEEP BLUE SEA among these films? I mean, IMO, the SHARKS were the "good guys" in that movie. It should have ended with Tom Jane and LL Cool J being mercilessly ripped to shreds by the "forgotten" GenOne Mako. Then, the last thing you see before the screen fades to black is the fin slicing through the water, towards the horizon.
Also, Three Dog Night's "Joy To The World" should have been playing over the credits.
C'mon....."joy to the the fishes in the deep blue sea..." ? would have been perfect!

Any of the Saw movies. Every time it seems like Jigsaw is about to get caught or stopped, and in the end he pwns everybody. Also, Ring could be considered a half win. The woman and her son are saved, but the guy, who thought he was saved, gets killed by Sadako.

We never know for sure. Dancer In The Dark. Also, semi on topic, I always thought the very average Hollow Man would have had a much better ending had only Bacon's character survived.

SPOILERS, blah blah blah...
Kingpin. Big Ern McCracken won the Bowling tournament, not Roy the good guy.
Fallen. That one was kinda cool. Kudos to that other guy over there for mentioning it.
The original ending to Dodgeball. Test audiences hated it, so they made a happier one.

There Will Be Blood
It was a victory for the immoral DDL, but it's not like he's great by any means...he destroyed everyone in his path on the way to success but I guess he got what he wanted by getting away from everyone. Still I feel SLIGHTY sorry for Eli and especially for H.W.
Also Arlington Road is the absolute most f***ed up ending ever...I don't care what anyone says...scares the crap out of ya...especially since this was made before 9/11.

^ That's a good one.
The Phantasm movies
It just seems like the Tall Man always finds a way to win in the end.
