Sorry OP. YOu wont get any love or support on this board from people on here. Just me mentioning the fact that FLair isnt the GOAT. Made people go " on me here. LOL!!! which resulted in 10 pages.
These people on here ACTUALLY think Flair is gonna retire. LOL!! Hes gonna drop dead in the ring before he does that. Flair ISNT going to retire. He's gonna do the "terry funk."
Not to mention he just signed a 3 year deal with WWE a while back. FLair is going nowheres. So why in the hell are they making a big deal out of FLair and his so called "last match."
As far as Im concerned Flair's last match was against Steamboat. Everyone there after has been the EXACT SAME. Chop chop, flip over the turnbuckle, drop to his knees, beg for forgiveness, work the knee, Fall face first on the mat. WHOO WHOOO. OF 100 repetitions.
WHOO!!! WHERE WE PARTYING TONIGHT ARN?
Edit: Don't skip the filter like that using the dollar sign for the s. The way to do it would be apes***.

Well of course a gimmick match is not going to be the same as an actual match. THe whole dynamic of a wrestling match usually changes when you can use chair, tables, and thumbtacks

I don't understand what your big issue with Flair is, you think he's overrated. Yeah that's understandable, but to bash what the guy has done over the last near 20 years is pretty hard to understand. It's not like Flair has been holding anybody down or hogging the spotlight.

When was the last time anyone saw a Flair match and said "damn shame he couldn't bump for the guy or put him over a little"? He's been making guys for the last 25 years. Sting, Steamboat, hell, there's a laundry-list of legends who were "made" after working Flair.

That was kind of what I was trying to point out but it'll probably be just shunned down with a "he's still on tv when younger guys could use that airtime" response.

The lovefest is understandable, but I feel some of us are taking the love too far.
I can't deny Flair is a Legend, and that he has done so much for the business. But let's not forget he didn't that for free, and he hasn't held on to his spot until now just for the love of wrestling either.
Flair deserves a legendary send-off if he's retiring FOR GOOD. Otherwise it'll be another "Greensboro night", bigger and better , but it won't matter should Ric be back in a couple of months.
Many other Legends didn't get a decent goodbye, not even a farewell match. Let alone a whole farewell angle lasting many months.

First saggboyflair and now azzor. Sheesh, if you can't accept the fact that people like Ric Flair, why even bother? Hypocrite much? Its your right to love him, its my right to think the love goes to far. I don't understand what your big issue with Flair is, you think he's overrated. Yeah that's understandable, but to bash what the guy has done over the last near 20 years is pretty hard to understand. It's not like Flair has been holding anybody down or hogging the spotlight. I assume this was aimed at me? I didnt bash anything. I simply said I find the love fest too much. As for the other replies, thank you for your opinions and not flaming me, simply because I never clicked with Flair and think his out-storyline is far too sappy and over the top.

If this really is his last match, I think it's fine. The guy deserves a grand send off, hes dedicated the last 30 years of his life to the business

As a fan of Flairs for over 20 years I will NEVER be sick of the guy or ANYTHING he does. I would take his 60 years old promos and matches over anybody in the bisnuess today. Hes the very last thing I have left to watch in 2008 of anything close to the my favorite and greatest promotion of all time,THE NWA! I hope he wins Sunday, I really do and they use the rest of the year to honor the man and then he can announce his own retirement. Other than Taker and HBK, hes the only guy left from the years when wrestling was a lot funner for me to watch. His match ALONE to me will be worth the price for WM.

Threads like this separate the older fans from the younger fans. I'm a young fan as I am 20 years old, but I think Ric Flair is the greatest professional wrestler ever. I have however seen a lot of his NWA/WCW run so the great Flair that a lot of older fans talk about I have seen with my own eyes.

Are you GUYS FORGETTING that FLair signed a 3 year deal a while back??? Flair is going to be around regardless and will most likely come back for the occasional match.
HES NOT RETIRING. SO quit making it like he is never going to be seen again and going overboard with the "oh Flair is the greatest... he deserves this." Who wanted to see him wrestling every week in the ring anyways with as limited as he is these days. You think he signed a 3 year contract with wwe to be a "behind the scenes man?" Not with his EGO. So being that he is still around, I dont call that retiring. I call retiring, "leaving the business alltogether."
But the guy is not retiring.. GET OVER IT. If he is still around in some fashion, (which he will be) Im sure he will wrestle on occasion. But either way, he will still be seen on TV.
The old man cant give up the spotlight anyways. AND THIS Why I cant stand the Ric Flair lovefest on here. It is unnecessary

Yeah folks until Flair becomes a hermit don't you be saying he's retired! Flair is going to be a hypocrite, like all those retired sports stars who do sports analysis and other TV appearances instead of disappearing from the airwaves.

no. The greatest all-around of all time.
best Heel ever
great on the mic
great worker who could have a 5-star match with a broomstick (with apologies, better than Bret Hart-Bret had great matches, but only with certain people. Flair made George South look like Ricky Steamboat)
held at least 16 world championships from 1981-1999. held numerous U.S./Intercontinental/World Tag championships from 1975-2006.
Maybe the biggest thing: he never wanted to do anything else but wrestle.

True Guide to Wrestling RetirementNo TV, no interviews, no items, Fox only Final Destination Correct. Thats what "retirement" should be. When most folks "retire," they are typically not seen around the office anymore. Last time I checked anyways And bret only had great matches with "certain workers" Bret was giving a pretty crappy pitch as Champion in 92 and 95 where he would put on some great matches with some of the crappiest workers in the business or less than great workers. Backlund, papa shango, hakushi, issac yankem, Diesel, lawler, razor(before he was a very good worker) etc. Bret didnt dissapoint. Bret didnt exactly have the opportunity to defend his title against guys like Race, Rhodes, wahoo mcdaniel, steamboat etc. either. Flair did.
