While I understand the love for Ledger's performance, his hype so far is overshadowing the great job Aaron Eckhart did as Dent.
The only other person I would have liked to see in that role would have been Terrence Howard, who I heard was one of the actors considered (waitwait- hold off the "keep the racial makeup the same as the comic" stuff for one minute), as he also has that ability to portray a person on edge.

I agree, it made me hurt knowing that Dent was going to become two-face. Cause he was so good at being good.

Do you guys think they will replace Ledger for the next movie? I mean it would make sense since Joker was always suppose to be the main bad guy to Batman. Also it wouldn't be hard at all for them to apply and make it look like Ledger did in this one. I'm just not sure if they would be able to find an actor who could do it as well. I mean I'm sure there is some big name out there that could do it but they would have to find him.
Also do you think they will bring back TwoFace as the main bad guy? I know he is suppose to be dead but it seemed a little odd that they only had him as Twoface for like what the last 40 minutes of the movie? Do you think they will have him fake his own death? I really hope they don't bring him back from the dead supernaturally because that just wouldn't be batman.

I just saw it and here are my impressions:
I LOVED the Scarecrow cameo. The best thing with the Nolan movies is that the bad guys tend to just get arrested and not killed, which bothers me about most Superhero movies. (And if you'r familiar with the comic books, there is no reason to think Rah's Al-Ghul is any different.)
The scene building towards joker's first major attach on Gotham officials was very intense. Probably the most intense sequence I've seen in some time. The way it cut between the party, and the officers collecting the judge and the commisioner in his office. You just knew at any moment the S would hit the fan and when it did, there was no dissapointment.
Joker was unique and good. I liked that he was about more than money and power. He was just insane and without a clearly defined pigoen-holed motive.
So in summation, I really liked it. It lived up to my expectations. I wasn't expecting the second coming upon it's release, I was just hoping to get my money's worth and see the universe that was born in "Batman Begins" expand to included the biggest Arch-rival in Batman's lore. While it may have been nice to have two-face get away to scare up trouble in the next movie, it served the story better the way it ended. And it sets up the next movie quite well...

I really hope they don't bring him back from the dead supernaturally because that just wouldn't be batman. I think it would be more likely to replace him later on in the franchise. Batman has many other arch foes like the Penguin and Riddler to play with for a movie or two. Then spring the Joker again after some time has settled and the part is less emotionally charged by the death of Ledger. Speaking of which, who do you think will be the next Batman villian? I don't think any of the characters introduced in the previous movies would be able to be the bad guy needed to tell the story of the unjust persecution of Batman. I'd love a character like a corrupt mayor, or a supervillian that vowed to protect the public and capture Batman while plotting his own rise to power in the underworld. I'm sure it's in the DC universe, but all I can think of that hasn't been in a movie yet are lame characters from the 60's TV show, like King-Tut and the Bookworm, or cartoons that wouldn't stand-up in the Nolan "dark but real" universe, like Clayface.

I think the next villain has got to be either TwoFace, Riddler, or Penguin.
If you remember the orginal second movie with the Penguin he actually did become the mayor and was the corrupt top bad guy even though I don't think it was all that realistic considering how he looked.
I want to know when they will bring in Robin. Nolan has already said Robin will be in the series some where.

As for Dark Knight, I finally saw it last night, and it was f***ing brilliant. Joker was amazing, and Harvey Dent/Two-Face ALMOST stole the movie for me, because he was so great at being a good guy who was just driven to the brink.

Well, it looks like The Dark Knight is now cemented as the #1 movie on IMDB for a very long time. It is still at 9.5 (weighted) with 69,135 votes counted. Meanwhile, The Godfather is at 9.1 with 289,984 votes counted.
The near-unanimous positive response to this film is incredible.

I thought Jim Carrey as the Riddler was awesome and he would have been a great joker. I think Crispin Glover as Riddler would also be really cool because he seems like just the guy that could pull that off. Honestly though I don't think Glover is a big enough name anymore. I see Johnny Depp more likely to play the Riddler which would be AWESOME.

I gotta say, I'm not in the same boat with the Crispin Glover/Johnny Depp crowd. Those guys always come off as eccentrics, so you sort of already know what to expect should they play the Riddler. But these same sorta names were bandied about for The Joker, and they went with Heath Ledger, which pretty much made everybody go "huh?" I prefer the sort of unpredictability in the casting, you didn't really know what to expect of the film. I think I'd sorta prefer if they try to cast someone who, while a talented actor, you can't really "see" as the character...until you actually see it. Y'know?

Fanboys are naturally going to go with the first thing they can imagine. Ledger was just coming off of Brokeback Mountain, when he was cast, and many people assumed that it was merely to get teenyboppers into the theaters (an argument that might have been made had Depp been cast as Joker, but still...)

I REALLY hope Depp doesn't get in on this franchise, mostly because I feel he's very overrated as an actor, and I'm just sick of seeing him in every other movie ever made.

Well anyone who has followed Heath Ledger's careeer I think would know that he would make the perfect Joker. He has played some pretty eccentric characters too ya know. I'm sure no one here has seen it but I think his other really good role in a movie was in "Lords Of Dogtown" which came out a few years ago. He kicked ass in that part and it is what made me understand why he was chosen to play Joker.

An excellent film, and I don't really say that about many films nowadays. It completely lived up to the hype, Heath Ledger's performance was absolutely brilliant and the story was well written and executed. I'm usually one to criticize this and that, but I've got nothing to nitpick here. I enjoyed the movie totally. Can't wait for the next one.

When i went, there were no kids whatsoever in the audience. My mom had wanted me to take my little brother, but I thought it was going to be a little dark for him. What about you guys? Did you notice any kids in the theatre, and if so, did they act freaked out at anything?
