Sooooooooo I wanna see this but I wanna hold off until the DVD release.....because honestly all of the viral marketing and hype has me just worn out on wanting to see this.... And the run time is way too long for me to sit in a theater to watch.....I'm still kinda cautious on this movie even thought it's getting a lot of praise.....I think a lot of the "best movie ever" hype is still just because of the long hailed hype for this movie so I think waiting for the DVD will be a better time to watch this movie... Believe me... those 2 1/2 hours will fly by... FAST. It won't drrag out. So go out and see it... now. Yes, this movie f'n rocks. Everything has been said about this great film, so I won't repeat it.

As I said in the last thread. If it's not the best comic movie ever, it's right up there with the top two or three. loved it. Seeing it with my girl on IMAX sometime next week. My pick for the next villain, obscure though he is, is in my av. Precisely because of the realism factor, as he's a psycho mob boss who happens to wear a black mask. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Mask_(comics) Though as obscure as he is, I'm sure it'll never happen. " Batman's fighting who?" I can hear people say.

Oh yeah, I don't know if anyone reported it or not, but the Weekend Actuals are out.
The Dark Knight made $158,411,483 which is about $3M above the estimates of $155! It's Sunday hold was incredible.
Also, on the casting front. You know who I would like to see play Mr. Freeze? Ben Kingsley. Then again I'd also love to see him play The Vulture in Spider-Man.

From AgentScam on Cracked.com:
"Second, Dent has got to be involved somehow. Gordon lied to his family about his being dead. Why could he not lie to Batman about Dent being dead? Gordon merely wants to hide Two-Face away so that what Dent stood for will not be destroyed. Think about this in terms of Batman's mindset in the third film. Batman has become the prey and isolated himself. He can trust nothing and no one. Imagine if, in the third film, Two-Face escapes from his pit in Arkham, and Batman figures out that Gordon has been lying to him all along. I mean, you want to talk about dark, there would be Batman losing the last person he thought he could trust in his life. Someone like the Riddler fits in nicely, here. He could have figured out the ruse. Let's say he offs Alfred, having also figured out who Batman is, and decides to guide Batman to the truth about Two-Face knowing it would destroy the last real human connection he had in his life, his friendship with Gordon. You could get into some complex emotional territory. A man with that much physical prowess and high-tech gadgetry of ass kicking losing his mind from grief and isolation would be a dangerous, dangerous person. Than Batman has to confront that in order to stop himself from failing the way Harvey did."
This is the best idea Ive heard for a third Batman movie...

Problem with that is that Gordon lied to his family but not to Batman I think Gordon and Bats planned it out together.

Saw this a couple of days ago, and I absolutely loved it. I didn't try to go into it with HUGE expectations since I've been let down so many times before, but with Nolan he hadn't let me down at that point. What I will say right away is that this ALMOST could've suffered the same way that Spiderman 3 did by having almost too many people and too much going on at once, but true to Nolan's other movies, he didn't allow for that to happen.
So first off, the negatives...only because there are very few, and they aren't really negatives as much as they are small peeves by me, and even by that standard they are so small that they don't even really make an impact but I'll say them anyways.
So my first SMALL complaint would be how everyone after the bank heist was introduced, it did it in the same way as the X-men movies, by introducing everyone right away within the first 10 minutes, not that it's a huge issue but I prefered how Begins introduced everyone as to where they're needed. Also, I think it would've been better if Wayne and Dent had already been friends at that point, therefore allowing for greater tension to occur on Wayne's behalf when Rachel gets closer to Dent and even more of a bittersweet ending for the movie. And I'm glad they got rid of Rachel in the end, I'm not a fan of recasting even though Katie Holmes sucked, but Maggie Gylenhall (sp?) is simply unattractive and not much better than Holmes anyways. Also, I don't think that Wayne handled Rachel's death as hard as he should have...I'm not saying he should pull a Casino Royale by crying like a pussy in the shower, but at least for a moment lose control of what he is and almost attempt killing with someone like Alfred of Gordon holding him back telling him this wouldn't be what Rachel wanted. Also the demise of Scarecrow was a little anti-climatic, especially since it happened so quickly.
Now for the positives;
The 99.8% rest of this film. I am in no way either a Batman or Ledger fanboy, but I wouldn't be suprised if got a Best Supporting Oscar, seriously right down to his little ticks (licking his lip, shifty eyes while thinking) he was too impressive. I don't care about what the comics say about his white skin because I'm enjoying this realistic rendition of Batman rather than say...a vat of chemicals in which Joker somehow escapes out of and into the river. While I liked the "pencil trick", he did so many other little things that I liked such as the "try outs" and mocking his lackey for getting electrocuted, almost had me in tears. Speaking of lackies, thank the Almighty that there was no Harley Quinn, one of the absolute most useless and stupid characters ever made, would've definately soured Joker's reputation as it did whenever she appeared in the cartoon. That aside, this movie just never slowed down at any point, once you think you have it figured out, it throws another genius curveball at you. It was very excessively violent in the most PG-13 possible, and it's a shame that there is a stigma that comic heroes should be targeted towards kids because this one definately had so much going on that some adults were even baffled. Now, I'm already thinking that if I see this a second time that I might watch it for more than Joker, probably for Dent this time, since I think he did in a way steal the show, but the antics of Joker and the "hype" around it allows for you to embrace Joker more than any other character at first, so I think WHEN I see it a second time, I'm going to like Dent more each time.
Little things I like were the "imposter" Batmans, it gives the impression that Batman can't be be traced because there's so many sightings, kind of like UFOs or something. I read a lot into the ferry scene, I wish someone would've said the line "how are we supposed to know if we push the button that it's not our boat that blows up?". It might've given more people the sense that they SHOULDN'T press the button, because I'm sure a lot of people in that situation might panic and just do it on instinct. I do like how Batman in a way allows for him to become a bad guy simply to help fight crime better, that takes balls.
One small nitpick that isn't bad, but I do have to say I don't think what we saw was the orginal ending. I have a feeling that Two-Face was originally going to be developed more in the 3rd movie, and I doubt that'll happen since if he is alive, he has in a way already gotten revenge with most of those who were involved. But the fact that he just shoots Batman and ends with getting tackled, just didn't seem like the way he should've gone out. I think they might've gone back and tied up all loose strings with the characters because they didn't want to recast Joker. Again, it wasn't a bad ending in any way, it's just something that I thought could've been handled better. And I'm going to side with those who say Two-Face isn't coming back since if he returned as a villian, then it would just disrupt everything that was said at the end of this one, it would allow for even less hope for Gotham to return and cause Batman to be even more contradictive. In a way, it COULD work but I think it might cause the audience to just turn on Batman since he's almost allowing this to happen because he's afraid to have a guilty conscience,
Also Tiny Lister (Zeus) maybe the setup for Bane? Hmmm...I do hope there's some thought given to making Bane in the next movie, IF there is another movie. And what I mean by that is if they pay Nolan, Bale, Oldman, Caine, Freeman lots and lots and lots of money.
And yes, I want a 3rd Nolan Batman movie, only because another Batman is going to get made either way...might as well go with the best you've got.

A&S Removal, while I strongly disagree with your Harley Quinn stance(I feel like she's a BRILLIANT character who can only add to the Joker's personality, especially if you play up the abusive/co-dependent aspect of their relationship), pretty much everything else you said is dead-on.

I dont see why Nolan and them couldnt introduce someone new. It wouldnt have to be thrown together. Im sure they could come up with something good. Its just most of the other villians seem too gimmicky or arent that realistic...

The Scarecrow/Dr Crane might still be a possibility for a future movies since he was only arrested (In fact he was just left handcuffed in the parking garage so he might of escaped before the police arrived). It was good that they tied up that loose end early so it would not be a factor in the main story. And it was good to see Cillian Murphy reprising the role.

Just saw it. I liked The Joker, and Harvey Dent was very enjoyable. I just really can't get past Christian Bale's attempt at a gravelly voice while in Batman mode. It's so bad.
Other than that, having Maggie Gyllenhaal getting blown up was definitely one of the best parts. Anyone else notice her face got fatter? She was developing some bulldog jowels there.

The only characters I could see happen;
Riddler; Zodiac killer type, leaves clues to infatuate his own superior intellect
Penguin; new mob boss, despises the "penguin" name thus blows up whenever he hears it, think Al Capone in "The Untouchables" or Big Boy in "Dick Tracy". He's out to prove something and doesn't want to take any crap.
Catwoman; now while I hate the female villians this has the most potential to happen. However I WILL NOT watch this movie if they fall for eachother while they fight, like they did in Returns. What COULD work is that Wayne could date Selena to help "get over" Rachel's death and spoil her in a way. She gets used to this way and eventually finds out that Wayne is Batman. After they break up, she is cut off from those luxuries and goes to great lengths including stealing equipment from Wayne to help aid her in robbing jewelry. Caught in the predicament of both know who he is and knowing that still kinda cares for her since he's got that void in his life, Batman has a hard time bringing her to justice.
Bane; The one guy I think Nolan SHOULD bring justice to. Have him just released from prison (former muscle head who kept himself busy in prison reading) who has a steroid (venom) addiction and can be the underlining villian in a movie while Batman is pursuing someone else. His interests are soley on heading up all organized crime under his control.
Poison Ivy; Annoying bitch who uses terrorism on anything that can be deamed as not envionmentally friendly.
Mad Hatter; 40 year old fanboy who's obsessed with Lewis Carroll. Shouldn't be anything more than a 3rd string villian...seriously he's not that marketable. I'd rather get the damn Clock King.
Clayface; Please note that in the Nolan world, we will NOT get the Clayface that we got in TAS. Instead I see him nothing more than a disgruntled actor who uses his abilities of acting and makeup to rob and kill. Just so you know, he's one of my favorite villians but he'll never make it in Nolan's Gotham.
Killer Croc; Former circus freak gets a knack for crime after he falls on hard times after his career ends. Lives in the sewer to avoid scrutiny due to his skin disease.
Ventriliquist and Scarface; Cool in the comics and TV series...I don't think it would translate well to the big screen. I think it would be laughable in Nolan's Gotham.
Manbat; Not happening....get over it
Mr. Freeze; Seriously cannot see anything other than what Shuemacher did. I honestly think that's the best we'd ever get, minus the puns of course. What would pocess him to ever want to ice over the city? He'd be the kind of guy you use when you've ran out of everyone else. Don't see it happening.

Ok, I've heard a lot of people bring up Bane, and I'm far from a purist, but for me, the ONLY way to do Bane justice is to do the ENTIRE Knightfall saga. Now that would be ten shades of badass, but alot of stuff needs to be established in order for it to work, one we need a Robin, doesn't have to be Tim Drake, but a Robin nonetheless. Two, Azreal, can't do Knightfall without him, now one could introduce him with Bane, but that would lead to a long movie for sure.
So let me put my name in as one that does NOT want to see Bane in any other way.
I do, however, think it would be cool to have the Penguin as a side villain. I mean when you come down to it, he's just a crime boss.
That's what killed me about The Dark Knight, after a second viewing (I'll probably be going for a third) I have NO IDEA what they're going to do for a third one. I thought we were going to see a bit of Two-Face to establish him for a third one, but now he's "dead."
I don't see Catwomen because well, Halle Berry says hi. (Right or wrong, that's how the powers that be will view it.)
Rachel is dead, bottom line is, Batman needs Romance, I say establish the Riddler to match wits with the Dark Knight (show his detecting skills.) Bringing back Two-Face could work. Either way bring in Talia. After Talia, you know who comes next. The return of Ras Al Ghul. Seriously, being immortal is the only thing the Demon's Head has going for him.
Anyhoo, that's my random Dark Knight thoughts.

I know the character's storylines tend to get mixed reviews among fans, but what about Hush? I could see the overall scheme from that first storyline and his origin working believably on film. Perhaps have him be the physical threat, working with another villain who would be the "brains of the operation." Iunno, I'm glad I'm not writin' part 3.
And yeah, TAS Mr. Freeze is one of my favorite Bat-Rogues, but I honestly couldn't see him working in the Nolan-verse. Like I said, maybe the next time they reboot the franchise, they'll have a good balance of the realistic approach and the sci-fi/fantasy elements where he could be taken more seriously.

No offense to anyone in here... this isn't meant as an insult... but you guys think too inside the box.
All the ideas I'm reading, like the only way to do Bane is to do Knightfall, are things we've already seen. Just because we haven't seen good live action interpretations of characters (Freeze) doesn't mean it can't be done. Just because characters are known for mainly one story-arch (Bane) doesn't mean they can't be expanded upon.

Hell, there wasn't a good interpretation of Freeze at all from his debut in 1959 until the Animated Series came along.
