It's London's 2012 party! Get ready for some rather lame music kids.

All right then, does anybody know when Judo is on? Judo ended last Friday and Japan dominated. Mongolia won it's first ever gold medal as well. Ah, damn it.

Did they say London will be building new venues in East London for the 2012 games?
Why don't just use Wembly for the track & field events? The UK government just spent a shit load of cash knocking it down and rebuilding it with an electric sunroof.

Well, the Olympics are over and time for a little refection by a fan. This post will focus on the positives. But for one positive, I must mention a negative. When these games began with the murder of U.S. Men's vollyball coach Hugh McCutcheon's father-in-law Todd Bachman by a nutjob with a knife but the team came together and won the gold medal. Then there's the basketball team who called themselves the Redeem Team to try to bring basketball greatness back to the U.S. They succeeded and then placed all gold medals around Coach K's neck. The Women's basketball team also won gold. But those 2 were the teams of stars. There were other team's that won medals for the U.S. that while not as well known, were great accomplishments. First was the Men's Gymnastics team. With the Hamm brothers sidelined by injury, they weren't even expected to sniff a medal but they worked and persevered and took bronze. A bigger surprise was the Men's Waterpolo team. Also not expected to medal yet found themselves in the gold medal game but could not overcome the powerful Hungarians and won the silver. The women's waterpolo team also captured silver. Another American silver medal team was the biggest surprise but not for what we all thought. The powerful American softball team was upset in the gold medal game by Japan. On the baseball diamond, the U.S. team overcame 2 early losses to win the bronze. But a congratulations goes out to all of the American medal winners. From equestrian to fencing to shooting to beach vollyball to rowing to taekwondo to judo, the U.S. won medals in 21 different sports and took home the overall medal count. And congratulations to all athletes who competed and who took home some hardware. 87 different countries took home at least 1 medal.
And finally, congratulations to China for putting on a spectacular Olympics. As first I wasn't going to watch but like so many I put my politics behind me and I wasn't disappointed. Now it's off to Vancouver and the Winter Olympics in 2010...the year we're supposed to make contact.

If anyone told me that we'd make it to 4th on the medals team only losing out to three nations with a much larger population then ours, I'd call them insane.
It's the first time I've been genuinly been into an Olympics and what a great event it was. So many great moments and memories that will live on for years to come.
If 2012 in London is at least half as good as Bejing, I'll be happy with that.

Is it wrong that Jimmy Page playing is the one thing I've been looking forward to the most out of these Olympics?

I have a question for British crappers. I noticed that the Brits competed as Great Britian instead of the United Kingdom and that the Union flag shown in the graphic displays only had the St. George's cross and the St. Andrew's cross. Why is this?
