The "Previously Viewed" copies of Rambo at Hollywood Video are all just Disc 1 from the two-disc set. I HATE that too...I got gypped on the GRINDHOUSE set that way, threw a f***ing shit fit and took it back, got my money back, went to Best Buy and got the tin collectors cases instead. It's BS that they have the "Two Disc" version sitting out there in the 3 For $25 bin....but they'll only grant you ONE of the two discs.

I like the Digital Copy thing either. I bought the Rambo two disc special edition thinking the second disc would have a lot of extras, but it was a damn digital copy disc. I was like what the hell?! I'm never going to use this. You know what I would do? Go to Blockbuster and find a copy of Rambo thats the two-disc version but only contains the first disc. It's well worth it. Yeah but I already paid over $20 for the version I got so I might as keep it. Also my Movie Gallery is also selling the two disc special edition of Rambo with only one disc. I wish I would waited now, but I bought it at full price because I wanted to support the movie.

I Dont have blu ray but wanted to get it and was curious as to how its a scam? Honestly, I don't get blu-ray. I have a perfectly good dvd player that plays regular DVDs and as long as I can see the movie, and hear whats going on, I'm happy. I think its a scam that you have to shell out so much money for a blu-ray player and almost 30 bucks for a movie just so people can count the nose hairs on Bruce Willis. Hell, I STILL buy VHS if it's something I don't have already, and I'm happy with the way it looks. Blu-ray is just something for rich guys and tech nerds anyway....no offence to those who have it. I guess untill it's the ONLY format you can get movies with, I'll stick with the regular DVDs. Save your money.

People call Blu Ray a scam because it isn't leaps and bounds over VHS, at least not overtly. If you have a good set up, it looks and sounds a whole lot better. But, if you don't have the proper set up..... Plus, on the jump from VHS to DVD,you had the convenience of no rewind, deleted scenes, and all that jazz on top of it beign a better quality. I personally prefer Blu Ray, I'm just not gungho to shell out that much for a Blu Ray disc. The one's I do have, i've bought on sale. Did you mean Blu Ray isn't a huge jump over DVD? Because it's way past a huge jump from VHS.

I Dont have blu ray but wanted to get it and was curious as to how its a scam? Depends on your audio/visual set up. If you don't have a HD tv or a ultra powerful stereo system, it'll seem wasted. I like my Blu Rays though, they look nice and they save tons of space on my DVD shelf.

I owe 5 blu-ray discs which I got from the five free disc deal. I'm not interested in paying $25- $30 for a movie. Plus I think one of the problems is that Blu-Ray IMO isn't offering anything really exciting. Being such a horror geek I don't see much rare horror being offered on Blu-Ray. What I mean is European, Asian, and just old American horror that was more abudent thanks to dvd companies like Synapse, Blue Underground, and Anchor Bay. Stuff that haven't been seen released since the 80's given special treatment like: Sleepaway Camp Series, Cheerleader Camp, I Spit On Your Grave, etc. Now if I heard about a blu-ray SE of The Beyond or Battle Royale, I'm there. Yet I not willing to shell out $30 bucks for Dawn of the Dead when I already own the Ultimate Edition just for a clearer picture.

I have yet to buy a dvd with the digital copy gimmick, since none of the 'newer' release suits my fancy. But when Forgetting Sarah Marshall comes out, it's a three disc set, two for the movie/features and the third as the digital poo, and not costing anything more significant, so fine by me.

See that's the way they should do it. Don't make it cost more and don't make it the second disc, make it the third.

The "Previously Viewed" copies of Rambo at Hollywood Video are all just Disc 1 from the two-disc set. As I said, its the best of both worlds. All the special features without that stupid digital copy second disc.

I hate flipper discs.
You know those silver two sided discs that are easy to get scratched up.
I can understand if a movie company wants to put both the widescreen and fullscreen verison of the movie on the disc that's fine and dandy. However, why can't they put them on the same side instead of making them flip discs?
To me MGM is the biggest offender, since I have bought a lot of MGM titles lately from Big Lots and most of them were those flip discs.

They use flipper discs because putting both versions on one side of a disc will compress the files, and you won't get as clear a picture. It seems every year DVD companies find something to piss me off. Couple years ago they discountiued inserts or liner notes. Then they started removing the film's trailer, only to include more stuff from their studio hoping you will buy them too. Now this Digital Copy bullshit, which makes 2-discs sets a scam because 9 out of 10 times the 2nd disc has nothing by the DC on it. As DVD's become more and more for the masses, they start dumbing them down. Who would have thought? As for Blu-Ray, it's only a "scam or rip off" if you don't have the proper set up. I own a HDTV and BR player, and I can tell you it's well worth my investment, but hey, it's not for everybody.

The only times I find it acceptable to have a flipper disc is when it's a double feature. I just picked up two of those from Wal-Mart for $15. The Perfect Storm/Three Kings is a flipper, with a movie on each side. I also picked up A Few Good Men/Jerry Maguire, which strangely, was two seperate discs.

As far as Blue ray not looking good if you dont have a nice AV set up. If you dont have a nice AV setup why would you want blueray to begin with? The quality is the whole point.
As far as the digital copy goes it is nice because now you have a copy you can transfer to your iPod touch ro what not. If you do it from a DVD you need to encrypt and rencode and all this stuff to download it to your computer. Which although can be done it takes a while and is a pain. Digital copy is about convience.
They are starting to release classic horror on blueray I saw the original Friday the thirteenth and nightmare on elm street the other day.

Goodfellas sucked as a flipper too. And the 4th disc of Tiny Toons is a flipper! DAMMIT
Speaking of other stuff, some people talk about Blu Ray and how expensive it is, take this into consideration: VHS tapes cost 35-80 bucks brand new 20-25 years ago. Most Blu-Rays movies cost 25. That my friends, is not really a ripoff.

Goodfellas sucked as a flipper too. And the 4th disc of Tiny Toons is a flipper! DAMMIT In defense of the Tiny Toons 4th disc, at least the first side is filled, much like the first three disc before it and just made it that way to not add a fifth disc. Like, with Freakazoid, there's no need that should have been 1 normal disc and 1 double sided disc, that was just asinine. And on the same topic, the Clerks cartoon really should have been one disc, as well, since everything on there could have fit. Hate when they do this, like the first set of Futurama, easily 2 disc instead of three. These kind of things more than anything I dislike more than anything, which might prove how lame I am. EDIT: And other thing, hate when the movie is split onto two disc. Like with Gangs of New York or Green Mile, they also could have fit on one disc, since other movies as long or longer have done it then used the second for the bonus material.

the WM sets being on the flip discs bothered me. So wait, you can get the newer wrestlemanias onto one disc normally(usually it seems the current WMs are 1 disc for the show, and 1-2 for special features) but the earlier ones have to be the flippers? Even though a lot of them are shorter than the newer ones?
At least they bagged that with the RR set.

On DVD for the WM set, 4 hours are either divided into two discs or flippers. For example, this sounds stupid, but the whole John Cena/HBK match from WM23 is on disc 2 of either 2 or 3 (and its a 44 minute chapter). Depends on what WM it is.
