So, being in Australia I get to see SmackDown aired earlier here than in the US. Today I was unfortunate enough to see Colt Cabana's debut as Scotty Goldman.
I won't spoil it for those of you who have yet to see it. But man... it is LAME. He's not just there as a jobber (I actually felt better for him when he was jobbing on Heat, sice I didn't cringe like this), he gets a proper sort of introduction via a little pre-taped interview in the top left hand corner. And that's where it all goes horribly, horribly wrong.
On the other hand, The Brian Kendrick is brilliant. He has really found himself in this role. The only thing that would have made The Brian Kendrick cooler is if he had actually done SOMETHING to turn heel, instead of just showing up one day and deciding to be a douche. Since they broke up Londrick, surely they could have had him kick London in the nuts or something to 'officially' turn heel. Other than that, he's awesome.
Scotty Goldman however, is made of FAIL.

What exactly was his gimmick? I may not see Smackdown tonight since I don't know if I'll be home. Maybe you could add "spoilers" to the thread title so that you can describe it in more detail? Anyway in a worst case scenario, you could always make a 3-disc "Best of Scotty Goldman" DVD set to go along with the Braden Walker one.

He's got charisma and I think he'll be just fine actually. I liked the pre-match interview with Cabana. "Hey I'm trapped in a box". I like his theme also.

Seems very Colt-ish to me. I'm sad they didn't use the Colt Cabana name, but I think Colt actually owns that name (and CM Punk was going to be the exception to the rule) and it sorta works as Scott's his real first name and Goldman plays on his Jewish-ness.
I'm also thinking it might not be his full fledged debut, since outside of the pre-match interview it was a jobber match. Could just be him testing the waters.

Horrible name but Colt was Colt and he did the flying A-hole which was a plus. They'll probably rename him next week, hopefully to Colt Cabana

Thanks for the link.... Yeah I gotta agree with the others, it seems like he's basically just being Colt Cabana with a new name. Seems OK to me... Anyone notice his TitanTron though? It's one of those infamous "debut" Titantons where it's just the name floating around. I love those! Braden's was the masterpiece of the bunch though.

It's been a long journey, but we're here. Colt...Scotty finally got the call up and I enjoyed it. Hopefully Scotty's greatness doesn't get lost in WWE's WWEness.

Sold. I'm sure he'll lose a few more times, He'll probably go somewhere. Unless he's stuck in a box. Kenny though he'll see a pink slip in about two weeks.

Yeah, that promo was pretty funny. I saw a lot of the Colt Cabana we've grown accustomed to in that promo.

I'm not to worried about his name change either. You know as well as I do he'll be a jobber on Smackdown for 5 or 6 months and then jump shift to Raw and be completely repackaged, they'll end up dropping the name "Scotty Goldman" too.
Garrison Cade became Lance Cade Johnny Nitro became John Morrison Pirate Paul became Paul Burchill
I'm sure there are a million other examples one could make too.

He'll probably job a few more times to guys like a returning Carlito, Shelton Benjamin, some other midcard heels, before he finally gets a fluke win over MVP. Thats when the fun begains.

Well, remember, Evan Bourne didn't exactly have the best debut either and he's doing pretty well for himself now. Didn't Jay Bradley have a match this week too? Of the no-entrance, no trapped in a box variety?

I always get upset at the name changes, but I should know by now. Maybe fans can chant Colt Cabana during all his matches till WWE is forced to address it. No, that will never happen.
