Wow. So it's all Kozlov's fault it was a bad match? And why is this? Because he's not DE GAME! HE NOT THAT DAMN GOOD! Triple H's track record must give him a free pass with some people. Not me, though. Not me. Just as much his fault as it was Kozlov's, if not more. It's funny because I've seen people claiming that HHH gets too much grief here and "can't catch a break", when this is proof that the opposite is true. He can do no wrong these days. For the record I quite enjoyed the match, but the direction of it was all wrong and HHH (like any vet) should have taken it to a new one, but he didn't really look like he cared. I place equal blame though. Just shows that Jeff Hardy is the most over on Smackdown right now.

People do forget sometimes that HHH doesn't run the show. Sure he has input and a lot more pull than say your Carlito's of the fed, but he's still in many ways as much a worker as anyone. I'm feeling the higher ups wanted to hype the match with Hardy's absence, figured Edge's return would totally be a great way to build it and have a huge payoff for the match. HHH on the other hand, seems to be pretty good with putting Jeff over, and was probably not as enthused with having to more or less sell for Kozlov for four or five minutes until the schmozz. Not saying it's an acceptable reason, just saying Trips hasn't seemed to be trying to get Kozlov over nearly as much as he sells or interacts with Hardy.

The one thing that really made me go huh in the match was when like 5 minutes in Kozlov hit the headbutt. A finisher the annoucers and everyone (HHH included) were selling like death itself and Kozlov hits it harder than ever and it was basically nothing.

I don't think Kozlov will be gone soon at all. He'll move down to an Umaga level role, but that was always to be expected.
I think they got exactly what they expected out of that match. Maybe they didn't want the boring chants, but when you promise them Jeff Hardy, the guy that's had all the focus on him over the past month, and don't deliver him, you are not going to have the fans fully invested in the match.
Therefore I don't think the match was 'booked to be boring', more it was booked not to take focus away from Edge and Jeff. They could have so easily had HHH shine, get all the pops, and by the time Edge and then Jeff come in, the reaction isn't as loud. Did you hear the pop for Edge? It was insane.
As I said, I think they got what they wanted. HHH, one of the companies' biggest stars is defending his title and the crowd still wanted Jeff. That is MASSIVE, and shows they have successfully built him up to the level when he will soon be able to carry the company.
