I'm not convinced. If anything, it would make sense to try to get rid of any potential good guy image for JBL, since they've gone so far out of their way to make a really offensive heel out of him.
Another thing is, this is the first thing in a long time that's really gotten people talking negatively about JBL. Like I said, seems a little too perfect.

But they would have to mention it on TV first and then, you have JBL getting bitchslapped by little Joey Styles.

If it ends up getting mentioned on TV in any way, then I will probably go ahead and assume it's a work.
If not, I could see it being possibly for real.

If JBL orders Shawn to go to Titan Towers, find Joey Styles, and superkick him to oblivion, then I'll believe- well, I'll just believe they're trying to take advantage of what happened by adding it to the script.

You know, real-life non-work things frequently get worked into storylines as either inside joke or material to add credibility to a kayfabe situation (two examples that come to mind are the existence of the Kliq, from real-life group to HBK's fanclub, and Santino's drunk driving incident). The line is not as black and white as you think it is.

This is JBL's problem. If he act like an adult and a professional, he wouldn't be KO'ed or backjumped by an announcer. Plain and simple. It ok to rib and joke around, but you can go to far with it. Fighting over airplane seats is childish anyway. If you want first class, beat someone to buying a ticket first. Are people so childish they act as if they are kindergardeners or what? They should be role models for kids, not kids throwing hissy fits over airline seats and drunken fits. Who agrees with me? I think WWE use to pay for airplane tickets back then. I don't know if they still do or not. I think what happen is someone wuold get bumped from coach to first class and guys would fight over it. I like JBL the gimmick and stuff but I think as a person he is an asshole. He shows no respect to anyone coming into the WWE. Lets face it. The guy is a dick. One time he told the Hardys back when they were rookies to buy a case of beer and drive home while drinking it or something like that. I'm sorry but that is not testing someone's will to stay in the WWE. That is just stupid and JBL is a tool for doing something like that. I say JBL got humbled by Joey and it is great. It doesn't even matter that Joey got him from behind. The fact that he bloodied JBL at all when JBL is like a hundred pounds bigger is awesome.

The whole JBL/Blue Meanie thing was totally for real. A lot of people will say it wasn't but there were pictures of Meanie all bruised and scarred afterwards. I'll tell you one thing. Tracy Smothers hates JBL. He challenged JBL to a fight at an indy show and JBL has never responded to him. Smothers is one of those awesome veterans.

For one thing, Blue Meanie wasn't employed by WWE at that time, he had been hired only to do that particular show. JBL's "punishment" was to get squashed and humiliated by the BWO on Smackdown, and those of us who read the NEWZ knew why that was happening, but I'm pretty sure they never actually talked about the original incident on the air. Now, if for some unexplained reason JBL ends up losing a squash match to Styles on RAW, then yeah, I would assume that this news story is true. If, on the other hand, this leads to a JBL/Styles feud I'm gonna probably gonna assume it's all a work. As a matter of fact, if JBL was still an announcer right now, I'd have no doubt that this was a work, but I digress.
