Thanks for the inside scoop. Much better than listening to that random internet smark, Jim Ross.

Why would Hogan tell an open source instead of just Vince himself?
Conspiracy: Now, if the match would actually happen, Hogan would have the ability to say that people "know" who is going to win and the ending should be changed.
This ends my...Conspiracy!

on a side note JR is full of crap about letting wrestlers go outside the box with building a personality. All the damn interviews and segments are scripted to the t and so wwe style. the gimics are force fed by the wrestlers by the powers that be in the wwe and have to stay within their boundaries. thats what made the original ecw so good. and as we all know this is no ecw. Braden? Is that you?

I'd pay to see this match, regardless of the outcome. It's just one of those things that as a fan, I almost feel obliged to watch. I know! I don't care if you don't even like the guys that much, Hogan vs. Austin? If you're a wrestling fan you know you're gonna wanna watch that s*** if it happens.

Seriously.
It could be thirty minutes of one headlock and I'd still watch.

I think they're about three years too late for this match
Hogan or Austin v. Cena would be bigger.

Who's to say they couldn't do Hogan/Austin at 25, then Austin/Cena at 26? Then everyone would be happy

In typical WWE fashion, they are about 7-9 years too late on this match in the mainstream audience scheme of business, and about 3 years too late in the casual wrestling audience scheme of business. Regardless of it not making that type of impact it could of years ago, for 2009 purposes it would quite frankly give WWE some new hope because the product is so horrid at this point, I think this is the first Wrestlemania I don't know or have any idea of what one match maybe going into it. The announcement of this match would easily sell the building out full (and I'm serious when I say legit sell out, no b.s. giving free tickets and papering the arena, they would sell out every seat for this match) and the buyrate would probably be a record for WWE standards, the advertising and website revenue would sky rocket, and I guarantee the TV ratings would be up in the low to mid 4's. And if you are a true pro wrestling fan, you need to see this match.
Point being is this. This is probably the one true dream match that would draw major money and bring a crippling WWE in 2009 a lot of life and a breath of fresh air.
It's the 1980's vs. the 1990's. It's pop culture vs. counter culture. It's the Hero vs. the Anti Hero. In a way, it's WWF vs. WCW/nWo. It's the Golden Age vs. The Attitude Era. It's the two biggest names and money makers in WWE history. It's the two most popular names that are related with Professional Wrestling going one on one. For the first time. And the only time. Ever.
Count me in.

It's Hogan vs SCSA. It can be all rest holds for all I care. I would fork out money to finally see this.

I'm sort of sick of these has-been vs has-been main events. If Hogan vs Austin happened 5 years ago it may have done well, but now I don't think anyone would care. However, as other people have posted, I would pay to see Hogan vs Cena. It would be the two of the biggest babyfaces and draws to go at it.

I've been wanting to see Austin kick Hogan's ass for over a decade now. 10 years later I'd still be hyped as hell to see it. If it happens I think this would be the WWE's highest grossing PPV's ever. If they went the Austin/Cena route I'd gladly take that as well.

Hogan vs Austin would be the suckiest match that ever sucked. The two in their primes, that would be something to see. Austin hasn't wrestled in (x-number) of years and has a bad neck. Hogan has a bad ... moveset. Those two COULD NOT put on a good match.
I say Hogan only says he'd put over Austin because Hogan knows the match will never happen.

Its easy for Hogan to say all this and then go back on it on a later date. He did it in 93 saying if he got the belt at WM9 he would put over Bret Hart at Summerslam (They were even doing tug of war Photo's for the belt) Before deciding not to. Even HBK of all people in his book has said Hart was treated badly by Hogan. Then you have pretty much his whole time at WCW using his contract clause to get out of anything. Goldberg btw was on the condition he would get the belt back at a later date.
And wasnt the whole thing with HBK that Hogan pulled a fast one and would refuse to put him over in the rematch which of course had HBK pretty much bury him on the mike after Summerslam.
People talk about the Kurt Angle match. You have to remember at the time Hogan had no real leverage after WCW so pretty much had to do as he was told. But when the fans where cheering him over say the Rock at WM18 and his nostalgia run is what got him back up there.
I guess Hogan is banking on the same thing happening again with Austin. But I dont see it happening if only cause the public comments about his son's comma victim and rubbing his daughters derrier might put them off him this time round.

As much as I would love to see this match, I'm really hoping it doesn't happen. For starters, Austin's neck would play a big part in this match. I know Hogan said he would be careful, and I know he would be. But, this would make doing a lot of moves on Austin hard to accomplish, because one bad fall and Austin can be hurt badly. Also, I just really don't feel comfortable with Austin wrestling in the condition he is in. Him coming in to be a special referee, make a segment or stunner a few guys is all fine and dandy (yes, I just used the word 'dandy'). But, him stepping into the ring to put on a match at the risk that he's in, is just too scary and dangerous. If Hogan were to compete at WM25 (or anybody else for that matter), it should be against Cena or any of WWE's other top stars, to build their credibility and to grab that big match feeling (not that Austin/Hogan wouldn't have a big match feeling to it). I just don't want to see Hogan/Austin because of the major risk that would be at play. Actually, Hogan would be a perfect opponent for Austin because both men know how to work a crowd using a very limited amount of moves. The match would also be so huge that it would have the crowd into it even if they simply stared each other down for a few minutes. If Austin faces one of the newer guys, he would have to take a lot more bumps and wrestle a more high impact style than if he were to face Hogan. That said, I really dont have any interest in this match. Then again, I am never very interested in any nostalgia matches that have no storyline or reason for happening.

Anyone who says they wouldn't watch this is a liar.
You'd get WM and you'd f***ing watch it, simply as a wrestling fan, to watch the two biggest characters ever in the business.

Oh yeah, I definitely would. I dont see it happening though. The problem has always been on Austin's side. He doesn't need the money and dislikes Hogan.

I'd watch just to see Hogan get the orange stunned out of him. He's permanently orange, so I don't think it could get stunned out of him.

Since his recent real life troubles, and as evidenced by the way he conducted himself with Reid Flair's debut, I think Hogan may be not taking doing the job so seriously, he's just glad to be doing what he's good at and enjoying himself a bit more.
