Its a simple story to tell. Vince brings Hogan back on TV, saying he was the biggest star he ever had and wants him back. Hogan comes out in full on Hollywood mode claiming to be the biggest star ever, made more money, drew more people, beaten everyone, etc, etc, etc. Glass breaks, out comes Austin, "you never beat me, son." Boom, theres your feud. The people would eat it up. The lack of Cena makes that angle an epic fail.

This would have been one of the hottest matches of all time in 2002, but now given their physical shape and the time that's passed, it doesn't interest me at all, and would really just smack of desperation. I'm not against bringing old favourites back at Mania 25, but I think the message that should come out of the event is of a company that's looking forward to the future and the stars that can taken them there. That's something Vince has always had the knack of doing at around the right time. Austin-Hogan would just hog the spotlight too much, and I doubt the match would deliver.
Now Austin-Cena - or even Cena-Hogan for the fun of it - on the other hand would be definite buys for me given that Cena is so much relevant to today's landscape in the wrestling industry.
But frankly, Hogan publicly admitting he'd do the job has killed this dead already for me, since he's just given away the friggin result. How are you supposed to build tension and tell a story? I know sometimes it's obvious who's going to win, but the best matches and feuds are the ones where the guy doing the job is able to plant a seed of doubt in your head about the outcome. Good examples of this from last year were Edge in the build to the Hell in a Cell against Taker at Summerslam, and Jeff Hardy against Triple H at No Mercy.

One guy who can't move vs. another guy who can't take any bumps.

Clearly, with his celebrity show being cancelled, the divorce, economics, and reality show done, he's in need of some money. This. Personally, I would rather see Austin vs. Cena or The Rock vs. Cena....

This would be my thoughts exactly. 2002 or anytime before. I would have loved to have saw the match. Fair enough it would not be a classic or wouldn't live up to all the hype of the match but it would be one for the ages. I have no interest in seeing the match now a days but it would still deliver mainstream attention. Maybe for all the wrong reasons. I would rather see The Rock VS Cena or Austin VS Cena, HBK VS Sting The Rock VS HHH one last time or Undertaker VS Sting. I know Sting is a long shot at appearing at any Wrestlemania but Hogan VS Austin would just be a major let down if it happened now a days.
