Depends on what your definition of BEST is, quite frankly. I think Edge is the best in the World when he's on his game. Then Jericho and Danielson are more or less neck and neck.
If you think best means most talent, then you may think Dragon is. If you think best means draws the most, then Cena and Hardy are on the top.
Just depends on your perspective.
Though I want to say this..
That's one of the more ignorant quotes I've seen when talking about Danielson. He isn't a bunch of random movez and submissions for the sake of submissions. He can "WORK" with the best of them, period. That quote is just pure BS.

Well they use the term powerborker so it has to be JBL. Plus he cant keep his mouth shut with anything, and likes badmouthing people he thinks will never touch him.

I thought PWI was written in kayfabe. Don't they make up their quotes?
Edit: Just saw the last line. Nevermind. For the record I agree with the assesment. Until he goes to the big leagues, he can't be considered among the elite.

I haven't the foggiest clue of who said this (although Jibbles does sound reasonable as an explanation) but dissing Danielson is pointless. Hell, the WWE let him go over their talent in what was nothing more than just another match to Danielson. Put Danielson on a major stage, give him limited mike work ( I personally find him OK on the stick, but he's not a huge talker) and let him stretch people out, and he'd be over like crazy with the masses. He could be a poor man's Kurt Angle.

Seriously that whole story (The Joey/JBL) one is stupid both guys acted immature To get back on Topic Whoever this is just about completly right You can't be the best in the World if you've NEVER BEEN IN THE BIG LEAGUES On the other hand saying that Bryan does'nt know how to work is Stupid He's knows how to work

It could have been Orton as he's critisied ROH and Punk before, he's not a fan.
The only problem with that theory is Orton isn't shy to speak his mind, I doubt he'd hide behind anonymity, he's even criticised HHH.

I just have a thought of what is exactly considered "the big leagues." Danielson is a regular in Pro Wrestling NOAH (one of Japan's biggest companies) and has won one of their major titles. I'm not saying that WWE isn't the biggest game in the world, but Danielson's accomplishments in Japan are nothing to sniff at.
Now as for his best in the world tag, you have to understand who gives it to him. People who don't like the WWE product...which Danielson doesn't work for. So it's understandable that "guys on the internet" would say that Danielson is the best in the world, because that's the style they like.
On another note, remember when it was said that CM Punk had no friends backstage that he never was going to go anywhere that he was found to be "overrated" by the boys with the stroke etc etc? His world title reign on WWE's flagship show says hello.
Also, for 'best in the world' it's really a matter of what you're looking for. I feel that Edge is the best going in WWE right now because of how complete a package he is. Same with Jericho. Then on the indie/Japan scene I believe that Danielson is the tops.

My thoughts on Japanese Pro Wrestling is similar to Japanese Baseball. Its better than any other baseball league in the United States, but its not on the same level as MLB. New Japan doesn't promote cards in New York City, but WWE does promote cards in Tokyo on occasion. Granted comparing the fictional world of Pro Wrestling to real sports isn't quite fair, I think this is a good comparison. Danielson is probably the best wrestler in the world not working or never having worked for WWE, but he'd still have to at least take his work to a national stage before we could truly judge him as the top guy. I don't agree with Kevin Nash on much, but when the idea of the "sport" is to draw money and not win then someone who doesn't draw money can't be considered the best. Nash always says Hogan is hands down the greatest wrestler ever and I'm inclined to agree. The goal isn't to have the largest moveset, or have the most entertaining matches, but to put an ass every 18 inches.

Not saying he's outdrawing Cena, but I think if you line up Hardy in a main event PPV match and Hunter in a main event PPV match, the fans are going to be more inclined to order and watch Hardy's now. He out pushes Hunter's merch, he out pops Hunter weekly on TV. I think that torch has been passed. If no one else, Hunter is the guy that got him there. Not saying HHH isn't up there because I think he is, but now I think things are changing. Cena and Hardy lead the pack, then it's that level just below with Edge, HHH, Taker, etc. Maybe Batista and Rey for the Hispanic audience he delivers.

i'm gonna make a strange comparison.
i believe this is like Theatre/movies
people will say the greatest actor of all time is say Will Smith or something because he is well known and his movies sell and are really enjoyable
then some people will say the greatest actor is a person acting on-stage before an audience in a small town in england or something simply because he can act better then anyone they've ever seen... but no mainstream person has ever seen said guy before.
so... what i'm saying is... because they're in the major promotions they're more likely to be chosen because more people have seen them. Danielson is definitely a great wrestler... but he's not my personal cup of tea. also for people who are saying he cant draw... i believe he sells out those ROH shows... and if your saying well he's not selling out 20000+ stadiums well... when was he given the chance?

Until he gets the opportunity to sell out those 20000 arena's he can't be considered among the best. I think he's a talented guy, but he's got a lot more Chris Benoit (the performer) in him than Hulk Hogan. He caters to a niche audience, and under that particular subset of wrestling he's probably the best. But under the entire umbrella of pro wrestling, he's no where near the top.
