Wade Redden scores a goal and gets a power play point with that goal... Hell has frozen over.

Once again, the Pens .. without Crosby.. get the win. Solid defensive game. 2 very much needed points. Go Pens.
Sid who ?

You beat the Islanders... not that great a defensive effort to do that.

Sabres going into one of the most important games of the year against the Hurricanes, Miller out and Lalime got the flu and might not play. So it might go onto the shoulders of a rookie who hasn't ever even been an NHL backup. *sigh* the Sabres luck sucks.

Insane rumor time (in other words, complete and utter BS):
Some guy on the radio (in a radio show in Montreal) said he "knew" of this blockbuster trade about to happen in Montreal. Saku Koivu and some other Hab for Martin Brodeur!!!
When asked where he heard this, the caller said he "had it on good authority from someone in the know that this will happen."
Right.
Do other cities get outlandish Trade rumors like this??? What's the most colossal one you've heard?

We get outlandish trade IDEAS on tri-state area sports radio, but the hosts usually just say to the guy calling "Are you insane?" Koivu for Brodeur? I'm part Quebecois, but that has me questioning if I have some sort of inherent loony gene or something.

According to the TSN SportsCenter they say that Begin will be traded for someone in Dallas. Hmmm, I suppose it can be easy to confuse Begin with Koivu and Dallas with Detroit...

the only "big" trade talk ive heard is LeCavlier to montreal for Pleckanec, Higgins, and Subban... dont think itll happen and actually think its a dumb trade if it does happen....plecks gettin hot again, Subban is a rookie comin off a gold world jr win and higgins is usually pretty solid on the ice...
then again im a habs fan (but either way to me its a lop sided trade)
edit: then again the trade for Begin was a BIG stinker....who was that guy they got for Ribero again? cuz i dont see him playing...

In the meantime, the best team in the Eastern Conference shuts out the Anaheim Ducks, 6-0.
Michael Ryder continues to prove how valuable he truly is.

I'm really getting pumped. I don't know if it's just dawned on me, but this could end up being the best set of playoff brackets the league's had in years.
There's been a decent amount of parity in the league that last few seasons since the lockout, but I'm not sure if there's been a season like this, where there have been clear favorites (Detroit, Boston, San Jose, New Jersey, Washington), but then a solid supporting cast of teams that have legitimate chances of knocking any one of those teams off.

If the standings stay the way they are, here would be my predictions:
EAST: Boston d. Buffalo Washington d. New York New Jersey d. Florida Montreal d. Philadelphia
Montreal d. Boston New Jersey d. Washington
Montreal d. New Jersey
WEST: San Jose d. Dallas Detroit d. Minnesota Calgary d. Columbus Chicago d. Vancouver
San Jose d. Chicago Calgary d. Detroit
San Jose d. Calgary
STANLEY CUP: San Jose d. Montreal
Expect this to change in the next few weeks
