to Maryse, McCool, Phoenix and Melina?
Two long running fueds that'd had some great matches.
You could pick just one match for sure and build it upto Mania for a great 10 minute match and not a damn toilet break.
Instead we get a comedy battle royale...meh

It's better than some years where they were fighting about being in/not in playboy.... Womens wrestling is a joke in WWE and I don't see it changing anytime soon.

I'm sure they wont be insulted when they get the paycheck. Lance Storm recently did a commentary where he pointed out just that. He defended the idea by saying that far more divas were going to get a WrestleMania paycheck this year than in any previous year. Usually only two or four get to be in an actual match on the card, and that's it.

The last 2 WM's featured all the divas on the show, with only 2 or 4 wrestling and the rest as lumberjills or whatever nonsense. At least they'll all be wrestling/competing/bouncing around in the ring this year.

Involving any of those four? Really? Needless to say I disagree. Beth is the only one who is a half decent worker there. And she can only have a half decent match with other half decent workers, which divas wise means either Mickie (being a bit generous) or Nattie (not being generous at all). Maryse has a great character but isn't a decent worker by any strech, Melina is hot but not even a better worker than Kelly (who also sucks). And that leaves McRibs, or as I like to call her "The Botch-o-matic black hole of charisma 500". None of the current girls get onto a Mania card for singles matches by merit. Not by a long shot.

I see nothing really wrong with it. Wrestlemania, to me, has never been about classic matches or great wrestling; it's been about spectacle. This match acknowledges the 25 years of its history, and has the potential to be decent when it comes down to the end. I suspect that the four women you mention will be among the last standing. Whether or not they'll get time to put on any sort of match at that point is another issue, but I hope that they do. championsucka: I think Melina's a decent worker, and McCool is very underrated. Both of them have been involved in some good matches lately.

mysterydriver, i believe the 'gimmick battle royal' would be an example of a comedy battle royal. i'd enjoy one, or a battle royal with one wrestler from all 24 wrestlemanias...and Dolph Ziggler

It'd STILL be piss-break...
No matter how you turn it, Women's wrestling in WWE has been little more than a farce, or than a good excuse for showing some plastic skin.
Quick, name the most memorable moment in Women's westling in the last 5 years, NOT being Mickie "fingering" Trish.

People are psyched about this. The thread about the Diva Battle Royale was like a dozen pages long. Getting females from the present and past is a smart idea and is a celebration of womens wrestling in the E. Neither Phoenix vs Melena or McCool vs Maryse would draw. The only one on one matches that would have drawn would be Phoenix vs Stratus or Phoenix vs Santino.

Not that I disagree with your point of women's wresting being a pissbreak/TnA excuse for the WWE. But I don't recall either one of those things happening before the last 5 years.

Just curious: How/Why is it a comedy battle royal? Considering the fact I will be absolutely, completely and totally SHOCKED if Mae Young doesn't make an appearance, if not win the whole thing, I'd say it's gonna be comedy-based.

Just curious: How/Why is it a comedy battle royal? Because it's not super-duper serious like Matt vs. Jeff or HHH vs. Orton ( which oddly enough is itself an unintentional kind of comedy, IMO). It's just a special feature match, and fun. If that equals comedy........well, whatever.
