At the outset I will admittedly say that I am not a huge HHH fan. I respect his ability...he is great in the ring. But none of his characters have ever really inspired me to buy anything. He just seems kind of blah to me.
I was loving this Randy Orton stuff for the past several weeks. He has elevated his game to become a superb heel. His work with the McMahons lately has been compelling and held my attention. Enter HHH.
Since they have brought HHH into the feud...it is still quasi-interesting to me. But it is hardly the reason I will buy WM this year. I just don't care about the angle now as much as I did before HHH got involved.
So...my question is this: Has HHH ever really drawn money on his own?
I realize my personal opinion might be clouding my judgment on this...and I am curious to know if HHH is actually worth the time they give him. I'm not looking for a particular answer...but want to know either way.

2000, the guy was one of the best heels EVER during this period. People HATED him.
It really depends on your definition of draw, but the guy has drawn money in some form since 1997.

If he's been main eventing for almost a decade now, and WWE aren't out of business and are not having shows in high-school gyms, I suppose it's safe enough to say Triple H does draw.
If you mean drawing like Hogan or Austin did, then no. But you can't really compare the state of WWE and wrestling as a whole back at the peak of Hulkamania and of the Attitude Era [when Triple H was already among the top dogs anyway] and the "yes, we're still around" current Era.

Yeah...I'm looking for hard numbers when I say "draw". I know he is popular, and he's sold a lot of merchandise. But is his drawing power over-rated in terms of box-office? Do people buy ppv's because of him? Is he good for ratings?
Thanks for your answers so far.

Unless you can somehow put your hands on WWE's official Balance Sheet, there's no way you can say Trips draws or doesn't draw.
And anyway, ratings and buyrates alone doesn't mean a whole lot...
Wrestling isn't a one man show, or at least it hasn't been since the end of Hulkamania. Not even in the year or so of Austin-mania.
WrestleMania can get a huge buyrate not just thanks to Triple H (or any other guy) being in the main event. It's a mix of different factors. Same goes for weekly shows.
Quite frankly, I think you should stop caring about who draws and who doesn't.
You don't like Triple H: will finding out he's, say, the fourth biggest draw in WWE history make change your opinion on him?

Supposedly WrestleMania 21 (the culmination of the Evolution angle) did very good numbers...

This is not something costing me sleep at night. I was just thinking about it on my way to work. I'm just curious to know if his numbers match his hype. Not trying to hate! Just trying to satisfy a curiosity.

He surely draws. Not much like Austin or Rock, but definitely and likely he does. He really was the top heel in 2000. Tore his quad and when he came back on 2002, the crowd was hot for him. Heel he gets booed, Face, he get cheered. Drawable? Yep.

I guess someone would just have to take the time to track down the numbers for his time in WWE and match it up to those numbers to get a real idea of his drawing power. Eh. I don't care that much! Unless...someone has already done that research...

Hey, we all have hobbies outside of our main focus of expertise, so it's entirely possible that Triple H can draw. I mean, who knew that the Rock could sing and act? i heard he drew this.... credit rajah Damn, you beat me to it...
