What about the Bruins, the Rangers, the Blackhawks, etc..there's major history there. And Montreal has more Cups than anyone. We rule. Well, we did once. Sigh.

Uh, the Bruins do. Don't even bother trying to put the Islanders over the likes of Bobby Orr, Phil Esposito, Eddie Shore, etc. The Islanders wouldn't even still be in New York if it wasn't for the insane deal with their network. Futility? You guys have missed the playoffs 13 times since your last Cup. Don't get ahead of yourself.

The bottom line is the Rangers, Hawks, and Bruins were not even on the level of the Leafs, Habs, and Wings. The Cup disparity illustrates this point. There's a LOT of Hate on The Islanders here for some godforsaken reason, but last I checked, when you go to the Dynasty exhibit at the Hall, you see Denis Potvin hoisting Lord Stanley. As it should be. Anyhow, we're gonna draft Duchene and I'm going to cry. I spent all these years laughing at Jets fans at the Draft. Now we're going to out do them. Dollar Pints will soften the blow... I Guess. I'd be happy with Tavares or Hedman. To get neither would be crushing.

Why? It's not personal at all. There hasn't even been an insult lobbed? Is someone upset?

The bottom line is the Rangers, Hawks, and Bruins were not even on the level of the Leafs, Habs, and Wings. The Cup disparity illustrates this point. The NHL was a 7-12 team league for their Cups. If anything, it was harder to win back then with all of the talent spread over only 7+ teams instead of nearly 20. Hell, the Canadiens even had special rights over French Canadian born players. I can even claim that had their top scorers not left for World War II, the Bruins would've won a few more. Yeah, Detroit won 3 more Cups than the Bruins in that era, but they were almost ALWAYS contenders. They've only missed the playoffs 20 times in their entire existence (less than both the Maple Leafs and Red Wings). The Bruins biggest problem (at least in my lifetime) has been their ownership not dishing out for a complete, contendership team. Well, that and horrible luck.

It's GREAT for the league the Bruins and Hawks are both on the rise. And no, I don't care about the Rangers or Leafs sucking. It may not be good for the League... but it's good for me.

Or one could just add another ten years to that, which the words "Canadian teams" to Islanders. So, Islanders one Cup in 26 years. Canada 8 Cups in 26 years. Wow, a Nation has more Cups than one team. Impressive. Of the American Teams, outside of Detroit, The Islanders have the most storied past, and it's not really debateable. It's completely debateable. Outside of 4 years in the 80's, the Islanders have no past, let alone a storied one. Wings, Hawks, Flyers, Bruins, Rangers all have more storied pasts and an argument could be made for the Pens and Devils have more storied pasts than the Islanders.

The fact that the islanders won 72 playoff games from 1980-1984 is very very impressive, the fact that they've won 29 in the 25 years since is anything but.

So I'm hearing the Bruins will likely play the Flyers at the Winter Classic in Fenway Park. I still think they're making a HUUUUUUUGEEEEEE mistake not picking the Canadiens (seriously...), but I guess it's better than the Capitals.

Rumours say it will be a double header with a second game in Calgary at McMahon Stadium. Possibly against the Canucks.

I heard Canucks @ Flames and CAps @ Bruins myself.
Curious why getting the Caps out there is a bad idea?

The Habs want an outdoor game at the Olympic Stadium for part of the 100th anniversary, but I don't know if it'll happen or not so that could be why it's not Boston vs Montreal. Maybe if this Habs game happens they want a Montreal vs Toronto one?
I have nothing against the Islanders. Never have. I like them. Run into the ground by some horrible decisions, but they're not the only ones (look at Montreal for starters).
The only team I have a hatred for is the Leafs.

I'm not 100% sure Lucky Luc should be a first ballot Hall of Famer.
Oh well, good for him anyway.
