Sometimes, though, even good studios go under...
Take for example GRIN and Free Radical. GRIN made the REALLY amazing Bionic Commano: ReArmed. But they also made Terminator: Salvation, Wanted: Weapons of Fate, and Bionic Commando. Both Bionic Commando games were good, the more recent one being only so-so, really, but they had to make two shitty movie/comic tie-in games. Didn't help them that these games were, combined, only 9 hours long.
And Free Radical....well...the only bad game THEY made was Haze. And they almost had to close up shop, until Crytek came in, bought them, and renamed them Crytek UK.
So really, all it takes is one or two bad games for a studio to go away. Unless they are owned by a major publisher like Capcom, Konami, Activision, Ubisoft, or EA, or are owned by one of the console makers.

I see the leak as a publicity stunt designed to help boost the already insane sales the game is going to get. However, it does give the player the option to go through with it, so I think that's ok. Is it tasteless, yes, but it's not necessary.
