kotaku.com/5392161/modern-warfare-2-features-skippable-scene-of-atrocitiesBasically in MW2 you infiltrate terrorists who shoot up an airport and you're with them shooting innocent civilians. The thing about this that gets me is that if they have say you can skip it why did they still put it in the game? It doesn't necessarily seem to be all that important to the story if they're putting in a skip feature for this specific mission. I don't know, that just kind of seems like something they might as well should've cut out.

To be honest, I see nothing wrong with it. It is just a freaking game.
I mean no one made too much of a mess over the fact that you can kill civilians in the GTA games(then again that is more because the rest of the things the games had to offer were more controversial), and come on, where do we draw the line at acceptable targets to kill in a video game?
I'm not making any bones about it. On 11/10/09 I'm popping in my copy and I'm going to plow through the civilians. To be perfectly honest, this opening is rather ingenious. It accomplishes two things:
1) Shows that terrorists don't f*** around, if they want to kill you, they will kill you. 2) It'll make killing these terrorist bastards all the more sweeter.
Besides, the biggest sticking point I can make is that several movies show terrorists offing civilians at an alarming rate, so what's the difference, really?
People are yet again making something out of nothing....which is par of the course as far as "video game controversies" are concerned.

I'm just gonna try and look on the bright side: At least Jack Thompson doesn't matter anymore, so it won't be as bad as it could be.

Well they need a reality check to. my dad will gladly play GTA along side me rather than whine about how it is coruppting my mind & complaning to the news. It's just silly & scapegoating.

Australia ban anything. I remember they said they were banning GTA 4 because apparently the protaganist shoved a gun in a person "orifice", yet this was a basely claim & was just a rumour, yet they still banned it.

If anything, the potential shitstorm Modern Warfare 2 will bring up can lead to parents, you know, ACTUALLY OBEYING THE f***ING ESRB! The game says right on the f***ing box that no one under 17 should play it. At least not without adult supervision! Granted, if I had a kid, I'd let them play M-rated games, as long as they can assure me they can tell the difference between games and reality. I mean I grew up playing things like Splatterhouse and Mortal Kombat, and I turned out fine, but of course games are looking so realistic now that it is slowly blurring the line between reality and games. Eventually there won't be an Uncanny Valley.....and I'm kind of afraid of that day.

I'm not usually one these "evil video games" types, but some things are genuiney sick, and, even if I don't agree, I can empathise with people who want them banned.
Why even include that? What's the point? Just seems like being controversial for the sake of it.

Here's the f***ed up thing about the Australian ratings system, it is TOTALLY RANDOM! I mean look at this, Borderlands, a pretty f***ing graphic game, was allowed to go through unedited and had an acceptable rating. Left 4 Dead 2 has to be edited to be allowed in the country. Yet they have the same level of gore. Is it cause Borderlands has cartoon-ish graphics? Has to be, because it can't be because of the targets in the game. Cause Borderlands features a mixture of aliens and normal humans, where as Left 4 Dead 2 has zombies. Not humans.

This level shows that anyone, anywhere, can, and will, be a target of terrorism. Terrorists don't give a f*** who you are, if they can use your death to get their point across, by God, they are going to kill you.

I guess it's a matter of taste. And nobody is forcing you to not buy it. and while I do'nt care for censorship, I have no problem with organized boycots against the developer, publisher and any store that sells it. But, think about this: If video games had been around in the 1940-50s, would it be ok to create a game where one played as Hitler and they went around exterminating Jewish people? As a side note, I remember people getting up in arms about a game where the main VILLIAN was Osama bin Laden, with some (I'm looking at you, X-Play) criticizing the developers for capitalizing on people's fear. Yet, it's ok to play AS the terrorist? Soemthing doesn' t compute... Oh, and the slam against Fox News, that's not cool. At all. well there was a game called Super Columbine Massacre RPG!: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Columbine_rpgbut from every review I've read that game was pretty horrible.

I mean Fox News DID make a news story out of every other video game controversy. Whose to say we won't see this on the channel within the week?

Here is the level in question:
If you want to see what the big deal is, watch it now, because the video will eventually be taken down and then you'd have to wait till the release.
